    Hyperbaric
Hi Dennis, I underwent hyperbaric treatments, the reason I had it was so that some teeth could be pulled. The hyperbaric supposedly facilitates blood through through areas that have been subjected to radiation. When I had the teeth pulled, the pain was minimal and the bleeding ok. I need some more teeth pulled but will not have the treatment. Have not heard of it as a facilitator for repairing laryngeal cells. The treatment itself is duck soup, just time consuming

    Hi Dennis

I went to another dentist Friday and got more of the same story nothing they can do. My Jaw will not open enough for them to do anything, he suggests I do some hyperbaric treatments and get all the molders pulled. Here is the big kicker if they accidently break the Jaw bone I will need to get the Jaw replaced. I am going to Google and see what Jaw bone replacement is about, I hope they don’t use a dead mans Jaw…

    Keep strong and keep fighting.

    Hi Debbie
Something I have learned that with God even something bad can be good if he blesses it. I don’t know where he is leading but I am willing to follow him all the way. Even if I am toothless here on this earth I know he will have a new pair waiting for me in heaven.

Thanks you very much and God continue to bless you too.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for radiation damage
I am a stage 4 colon cancer survivor that started working in hyperbaric medicine after watching numerous patients recovery quickly from throat cancer / radiation tissue damage. I couldn't believe how quickly (usually within 90 - 120 days) they would heal with something so simple. Little did I know that it would play a part in saving my life 20 years later.
While Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is approved for treating the damaging effects of radiation, it is also used to make the radiation more effective. I am one of the first humans to discover that it also makes chemotherapy more effective while reducing the side effects. While this has been theorized for years, no one had ever done a human study. But with me being a stage 4 patient and working in the field, I knew the risks and potential benefits and it was a no brainer to try it on myself.
My passion for HBOT has lead me to create a medical journal that promotes the us of HBOT. Our most recent issue was dedicated to the long known science of how it works on active cancers. You can read more about this online at: www.hyperbaricmagazine.com
It is a very well known scientific fact that HBOT in no way causes the spread of cancer. In 1931 it was discovered that cancer can not live in the presence of pure oxygen. It was from here that it became logical to research how increased oxygen could aid other forms of cancer therapy.
If you are considering having HBOT to close a radiation induced wound, you have nothing but good times to look forward to. It is approved by all insurance carriers and Medicare. It is painless and a good way to get some rest. It won’t cure cancer but will sure as heck give you the best shot for feeling well while enduring every other form of therapy. I have been on chemotherapy for almost 2 ½ years without ever being sick, anemic, or weak. HBOT build both red & white blood cells and promotes a healthy body while your other therapies do what they were designed to do.

Praising God through the storms of life
While I am new to this forum, I am pleased to hear of fellow believers that can praise Jesus through life’s challenges. I have come to a point where I couldn't say I wish this had never happened because I have become so much closer to God through this. Not only has my relationship grown closer to God, but God has used me to testify of His greatness despite this disease.
One of the first things a close friend of mine said upon hearing my stage 4 diagnosis was "Count it all joy". I didn't get this at all until recently. I have been able to count this all Joy do to my complete reliance upon Jesus.
When the doctors told me it was hopeless and that I would die, my family and Church declared in God's Word that I would live to testify of His greatness. I had a son 18 months after diagnosis. Not only I am living, but my family is expanding. God is good, all the time!
I just wanted to say thank you for your words of encouragement.
    Sincerely,
    Ken

    Learning our purpose in life
Thank you for your kind words.
I was already on a path to raise awareness of HBOT for other indications (such as stroke, autisim, etc.) before my diagnosis, but cancer helped to redirect my focus on what this therapy could do for this patient population. Little did I know that at age 38 I would be one of them. But I feel God has used me as a vessel. I have been given knowledge of how this therapy works and applies to cancer and am fortunate enough to work with enough doctors that understand the theories and are willing to apply it in an attempt to improve the lives of fellow patients. When you have stage 4 you have nothing but hope. That very hope opened the doors for me to discover something that I hope will benefit the rest of us.
I have made it my life's mission to inform the world through publications & web sites how HBOT can affect cancer and the other therapies we take.
I look forward to sharing any information I have with this community because this is how we all gain knowledge.
    Thank you again,
    Ken

Ken, i am a very strong
Ken, i am a very strong believer and I know without a doubt that God has brought me thru many, many hard struggles. God has worked miracles in my life that I and my family have WITNESSED. Without my faith in God I would not have made it this far in life. I am struggling right now due to the loss of a nephew who was like my own son. Some days I just want to completely give up but then I remember that God will bring me thru this as He has all my struggles and heartaches. I know God will continue to be with me, protect me, and lead me where He wants my life to go. I put all my trust in God b/c without Him, I am truly lost.
Thank you for your post and God bless you friend.

    HBOT
This is very welcome, Ken- you, and the info you've provided. They use the HBOT at the hospital where I got my PEG and Port, but my Drs. are actually aligned with another hospital- and kinda wish this treatment had been at least mentioned by them.

Any possibility the HBOT can help Lhermitte's Sign-type nerve damage?

Also- who would you suggest I talk to in regards to this treatment for my mouth/teeth? My ENT, Rad, or Onco? My regular Dr. isn't really an option, for me.

    thanks

    Hi Ken

You are so correct, at first having this cancer was to me a low blow, it is only now I realized what God was doing, it is a way to help others know him. What Satan menthe as a curse God turned in to a Blessing

    All the best to you

It is a very well known scientific fact that HBOT in no way causes the spread of cancer. In 1931 it was discovered that cancer can not live in the presence of pure oxygen. It was from here that it became logical to research how increased oxygen could aid other forms of cancer therapy.

Ken, the above statement seems a bit over-the-top. Could you point to some authoritative studies supporting this statement?

I've had two round of radiation to my neck and am about to undergo a second neck surgery. My doctors worry about wound healing, but are also worried about using HBOT specifically because they think it could promote the growth of any residual cancer cells. Right now, I think they plan to take a "wait-and-see" approach and only use HBOT if I appear to be having a very difficult time healing after surgery.

There are always two basic issues for any treatment for any medical condition: (1) safety, and (2) efficacy. I went to the web site for your HBOT magazine hoping to find authoritative scientific/clinical data supporting your claims of safety. If its there, its well-hidden.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but your claims regarding the use of HBOT in cancer patients need substantiation - especially because they seem to run counter to the worries my doctors have expressed to me.

    ===

    See this article:

    http://www.oncologystat.com/journals/journal_scans/Hyperbaric_Oxygen_Therapy_for_Late_Radiation_Associated_Tissue_Necroses_Is_It_Safe_in_Patients_With_Locoregionally_Recurrent_and_Then_Successfully_Salvaged_Head-and-Neck_Cancers.html;jsessionid=2870057B08ABD424069127E5D668E7EC

"HBOT increases the risk of cancer re-recurrence" in locoregionally recurrent head and neck cancer. "HBOT should be given with caution... "if it cannot be omitted entirely," it should be deferred for 9 months or longer.
