My sister has just been diagnosed with stage4 squarmos cell carcinoma nslc. She will be doing chemo, taxotere, carbopapin 3hrs a day 3 week intervals. She is having problems with her breathing, can't sleep laying down, body is aching. The mass is behind her heart, so surgery is not an option. Her family lives in another state,When she starts chemo next week she will need someone there to care for her and support her.Does anyone know if or how airlines donate to a medical emergency for flying famliy member/s there that don't have the means to buy the ticket? or any other options available. You are all in my prayers, stay strong.

    Air Miles
Here are a few I have heard of:

    Corporate Angel Network

Air Miles Program - Contact American Cancer Society

American Cancer Society also has a "gas card" program to help offset transportation costs but this may be for patients to and from treatment. Give them a call.

    Angel Flight Northeast

    Air Chairity Newtwork

Google the above. I don't know if any of the above is based on financial need. Some may be just for patients to get them to treatment but I think a lot of them are also for family members. Now if you are just going to "visit" don't know if they would cover that. If you are going to be a "caregiver" that is different. Anyway, I really don't have definitive answers but at least the above should give you a start.

Many airlines also have greatly reduced rates when you are flying for medical reasons. Give the airlines a call directly and see what they have to say. You may be able to get a ticket very cheap.

If I run across anything else I'll post.
