Update on my dad

I just wanted to give everyone an update on my dad. He has just completed two weeks of treatment and is doing great. Once we got over the issue of dehydration things started to improve. He has not had any problems so far with chemo and the side effects from the rads have been tough but not horrible yet. Also, did any of you get really hyper after chemo?

He told me this morning that the tumor on his tongue feels so much smaller. He had a cheeseburger yesterday for the first time in about 3 monthes. He says he knows that things will get worse over the next couple of weeks, but right now he is sleeping, eating and feeling better then he has in monthes.

Thank you for all of your help. I finally got the L-Glutetimine powder I ordered. The first order was sent back because the mail lady marked it undeliverable. I am not sure why since I was standing on the porch that day waiting for her. Oh well, he has it now and started using it today.

I will continue to keep you updated. Thank you again for everything.

    Steroids
    Hi Puma,

If I remember correctly, in the many bags of solutions and fluids I received on my chemo days, one of them had steroids in them.

I know on the days that I received chemo, I would be up until 3 and 4 in the morning.

Glad you got the hydration problems squared away. I became slightly dehydrated my second round of chemo. It was a bad cycle, I felt crappy so I slept, the more I slept, the worse I felt the less water I'd drink....sick as a dog.

And...BTW, Burger King Double Cheeseburgers is still one of my go to pleasures/vices.... I love them and they taste nearly as good as they always have. Although even though I have regained a lot of my saliva back, I still need to take a few sips of water during the course of downing one.

I had SCC in my right tonsil and also a tumor in my neck. My tumor completely dissolved inbetween the second and third round of chemo.

    Best,
    John

    Good News
    Kitty,
Good news on your dad doing so good! FYI, I found L-Glutamine at several health food and nutrition stores locally so I didn't have to order on-line. I've orderd some things on line and the last few were opened?? So I prefer ot buy it in person. Good luck to you and your dad.
