My doctor is suggesting to start MUSE 3 times a week for 3 months after my da vinci surgery next month. I believe it will start 6 weeks after surgery. Not sure what the doctor plans are for the first 6 weeks.

Here are my questions

1. Any other used this approach or is being suggested by their doctor
2. Pain of its use - few people I talked to or read about complained a lot about pain.
3. Is it effective
4. It it is not tolerated (pain or discomfort) then what else can be done - gel, injection
5. Other suggestions and alternative and general advise

I am 48 years old, great health, low gleason score

Thanks in advance

My doctor started me on Muse and Cialis just before surgery and both were to continue for a time after surgery. Then he had his PA start me on Eligard 3 weeks after surgery and after surgery not one word was mentioned about either drug. the old Doc's PA was like that- I never saw the old doc again after surgery- only his PA. I have talked with some patients whose doc put them on both meds just before surgery, and some patients never heard of using those drugs. I like to think the better docs get their patients started on "rehab" meds before surgery and follow up using them after surgery to get the process going again.

Muse will work- and yes, sometimes it is painful and it is always very expensive! Very expensive.

Thanks Trew. When did you start MUSE after surgery. Was pain and discomfort tolerable. How far are you after surgery to evaluate the benefits. What is the best way to buy MUSE as insurance does not cover it? Any other advise on dos and donts

    Thanks

My surgery doc started my on Cialis and Muse 2 weeks before surgery. And then I was to continue for a time after surgery. However, before I really got a chance to recover frm surgery- like 3 weeks after the cath was pulled- i was given my first shot of eligard. Cialis will do nothing for those on Cialis. Muse will do a little, but my doc's PA never mentioned the stuff again- never said anything about ED or any thing along those lines. My experience with the first doc was very discouraging. I look on that as a very poor choice on my part now.

so, I really can't say much about Muse except it does work. I tried it a few times before the shot, but nerves on one side were removed during surgery and I was still pretty much in shock and leaking a lot to find out how well Muse would work for me. I do know it is very expensive. Very expensive. And it does give you quite an ache for a short time- not hours.

I looked at MUSE instead of
I looked at MUSE instead of injections and went for the injections instead for 3 reasons far cheaper, easier to use and I can “adjust” the doseage. My surgeon and urologist both recommended that I would see better and faster results with using both the injections 2 to 3 times per week and 5mg Cialis daily. My dosages will be reviewed every three months by my urologist…btw I had no issues with ED prior to surgery…

I started at 3 weeks after surgery (I was first told 4 weeks then my urologist stepped it up a week…) The injections are great for me since the second shot and I know how to “adjust” my erections by dosage… With the injections I have been able to have intercourse with an erection since I figure out the dosage etc…plus orgasm (it gets a little use to having a dry orgasm but for me they are just as good if not better…) BTW injections are not painful just takes a few times to get your head wrapped around sticking a needle in it....

    Best of luck
