    that is a male lion cub at the endangered animal sanctuary in Toronto, I volunteered there for a few years, that was taken when I was around 20 , he was bought from a breeder , then when they realised he was not "just like a dog" tried to sell him at a flea market, a lady rescued him , she had a kennel , she then contacted Bill at the sanctuary and we got him, I was training him not to bite my knee caps and back of head, (his favorite game not ours!) that was a childrens bowling pin in his mouth. he went through a dozen a week !
    he was around 4 months old there !

    well about my hair, it is now almost gone, shocking, I did have enough scant hair to cover the head lightly, now only a few remain on the top of my head! very white head! gonna cut the rest of them today :(

    going bald...
    OK. I haven't even had my hysterectomy yet (more scared about that than the cancer itself). Open abdomen on Dec. 29 and the doctor told me not to jump to conclusions yet, he hopes there is just a polyp of the UPSC stuff and I'll be all better. My thought is that it is more than that and I'm going to have to have the chemo like "everyone" else. Anyway about the hair thing... I'm cutting it all off before I even have the surgery! I don't want to mess with it after the surgery and I've shaved my head before - 1st time was after my mother-in-law died from lung cancer and a bunch of us did it in rememberance of her (of course I was the only girl that did it), and the second time was when one of my friends had to have chemo and she was really upset about going bald. So, I told her, "When you go bald, I go bald." She came to work one day and took off her hat to show me her shiny head and I was shaved the next day right along with her. Hair is very overrated for me.

    I am sorry that you all have to worry about your hair. I pray that you can be at peace with it.

    It will be interresting to see if I truly lose it, how it does start growing back though.

    ok new hair question,
    finaly gave in and had my faint amount of hair , that was falling out , clipped off,
    first shower got a lot of old dry skin up and off the scalp, now I have a few spots that are hard and dry
    tried hand cream tried aveno dry skin cream, had a friend send me head lube :) funny, that is for guys who shave their head often :)
    tried it any how, will see what happens tomorrow, any other ideas? hair is coming in slowly, have a very faint length of hair , but scalp very dry only in a few spots, helppppppp thanks

    suggestion
    Since this works for dry hands, it would probably work for scalp too. I think a light layer of petroleum jelly covered with a cap would moisturize the scalp.

    Ill try that thanks, and maybe bag balm or hoof maker, we used that a lot at the race track for horses and humans :)

    By next week I think I'll be bald again.
    I made it through Christmas, with three 1/3-strength weekly taxol infusions in me so far, but today my shoulders are covered in fallen hair and if I even gently scratch the back of my head at least 10 hairs are clinging to my fingers. My scalp has that familiar itching/burning I rememebr from last time. I even slept with a sleeping-hat on last night because I didn't want to wake up with my face on a hairy pillow. My remission hair is about to be history and my bald look returning. The GOOD part of this is that my grey roots are starting to grow in, and I can't touch them up with color since I'm back in chemo, so the hair I am starting to lose is UGLY. That actually helps make it easier! How twisted in that? I wanted to try and look as normal and healthy as I could for my Christmas company, so I'm happy I was able to pull that off and reassure everyone who doesn't look too closely or too deep. After chemo tomorrow, and once I get my appointments for my daily Neupogen the rest of the week, I plan to make an appointment and get my loosey-goosey hair clipped close to the scalp so the rest of the fall-out won't be this messy. I'm hoping my lashes and brows hang in a little while longer. At least it's HAT season here!

    I am feeling really good with my treatments. So far so good! It was wonderful to have my family in for the holidays and now I am busy washing sheets and towels as they are all headed home. I enjoyed my 3 days off of treatment, but am ready to get back into battle mode tomorrow! ((((Hugs)))))

    Cathy you might want to try baby oil
    I read where baby oil helps the dry itchy scalp. I tried it and it did help me. I have such dry skin anyway that I liked the baby oil. In peace and caring.

    So glad to hear you enjoyed your company for the holidays. Glad you are feeling well with your 1/3 strength weekly treatments. I am glad your hair made it through the holidays, too. I know it must be hard to lose it again. I am glad you are ready to continue the "battle mode". You are such a fighter, admired by many.

    I go for my lab test tomorrow, and find out if I will need another CAT scan. I am hoping to hold off until March before I need to go on treatment again. That way I can go back on the Taxol/ Carbo. I know I tolerated those drugs okay.

    Hope all continues to go well for you and your CA 125 continues to drop. As always you remain in my prayers, as do all our other sisters on this site. In peace and caring.
