Steves biopsy results of the "nodule" came back positive. They want him to see a specialist in Chicago, a Dr. Mary Mulcahy at Northwestern. Steve says he will consider chemo, but if it is in his liver too, can he really fight this? Can anyone survive mast. cancer? I hae so many questions and feelings I don't know where to start. I gusee if anyone has any advice, please help.

Does any one have any suggestions for an oncologist in the chicago area? We need to find one fast and Steve doesn't care for his options so far.

Hi Chris and Steve. Sorry to
Hi Chris and Steve. Sorry to hear the news, but yes you can and will fight this! You must stay positive. Sorry I am not familiar with the Chicago area. If he is not comfortable, then by all means seek a second opinion. Always go with your gut feeling. You must take this one day at a time. One test, one scan, one result, one treatment, etc. You are both in my prayers. Please keep us updated. Check with the American Cancer Society about a good hospital in your area. Good luck, and God Bless!

Sorry to hear this news. I do know the cancer treatment center of america is in Chicago. I don't know much about them. My parents had considered it at one time, but getting back and forth was a huge issue since we live in Maryland. It may be worth checking into.

    Prayers!!

    Thanks for the info
I am going to check into Dr. Villefor today. As far as the Cancer Treatment Center, it is not close to us and unfortunatly my husbands insurance lapsed a month ago. I am in the process of getting him the state medical card, but its a process. Most of the Dr.s he has now are understanding with that, but its hard to get a new Dr. to take you without insurance. One day at a time as Steve says, thats all we can do! Thank you for the information!

    Hugs and prayers

    Second opinions
Chris, I am 1.5 years since diagnosis and 1 yr since surgery, and disease-free. Dr. Mulcahy is my oncologist. The EC team at Northwestern is also top-notch and worth considering. If you need other opinions, I highly recommend that you meet with her too.

    We were given the referal
We were referred to her, but we no longer have insurance and the state medical hasnt been approved yet, so she wouldn't see us. I am looking now for somone to at least give us an opinion.
