    Cyber Censor at work again!
We have the oddest Cyber-Censor on this site! The word you typed in has been deleted on other occassions. The trick to getting past the censor is to make tiny changes in the words, either adding a space or a punctuation mark. It is rather insulting that it is perhaps thought any of us would be making crude sexual remarks on these boards...that we even have to think that any part of any word might be offensive is ridiculous! But such is the program that ACS uses!

I will re-type your sentence adding a punctuation mark to the so called offensive word, and you will see it will come through just fine! Grrrrrr to the Powers That Be!

" a local BBQ restaurant that will include all of the tr.immings."

Trust me, if this word hadn't been censored in an earlier post~ I think someone was going to a hair salon and was thrilled that their post chemo hair finally needed tr.imming, I never would have known either. We were all wondering what was so offensive. And then someone had a light-bulb moment. Sheesh!

    LOL!
Thanks for the tip Claudia! Who'da thunk it??

    Thanks, Natly15
This is my absolutely most favorite holiday! I love that the whole focus is on fellowship with loved ones. Thanks for the good wishes! HubbyDearest and I live 60 miles from our daughter and her family. We are keeping the usual tradition of having dinner with them at their house. Typically we are joined by various members of her husband's family as well, so there will be from 15 to 20 people in all. Some will have dinner, others might show up for dessert. A couple of them will bring side dishes, but we don't count on it. On Tuesday I'll drive down, finalize the shopping, and stay over. Wednesday daughter and I will work together on doing all the prep that can be done the day before. Thursday, we will stuff two turkeys, and maybe cook a ham (the jury is still out on that). Anyway, we are all looking so forward to getting together eating and visiting and enjoying it all. This year we decided to forgo the fancy stuff and use paper and plastic. How nice is that?

I hope you all have a great day, whatever you plan to do! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Hugs, Gracie

    Thanksgiving is also my
Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday. I'm on my 3rd day yucks after chemo, but must say all your dinners sound so yummy!! Thank you Sisters in Pink for sharing your festive holiday plans.

Sorry I couldn't resist, wanted to see if I'm edited. My mother started a tradition many years ago with having all the kids and grandkids home for Thanksgiving. The year she died she was in the hospital at Thanksgiving, so we had it at my house, which was closest to the hospital, probably about 30 people. Everyone pitched in with the dinner, then we took turns visiting Mom at the hospital. Mom died in December that year. From then on we kept the tradition of keeping Thanksgiving together and had to rent a hall. A few years ago we decided there were too many of us so now we're all keeping it with just our immediate families. There will be 10-12 at my home this year. My son makes the best cornbread sage dressing, I make most of the meal inc. turkey and coconut cream pies, banana cream pies, pecan pies. My one son's family brings pumpkin pies. Want to wish all of you a great Thanksgiving! We still have a lot to be thankful for, and this year we have a new grandson. He won't be eating turkey but next year will be a different story.

    The very first time this
The very first time this happened to me, some sweet sister posted about the combination of chemo drugs she would be getting, and asked if anyone else had had the same ones. I said I had the exact combination. Actually I said I had the same chemo c.ocktail. The first 4 letters of that word came back as **** but tail was acceptable! Someone in chat said that evidently one body part is more popular than the other! Live and learn! :-)

    Going to Denise and Kyle's.
Going to Denise and Kyle's. His mom and stepdad are coming up from San Diego and other friends are stopping by. Kyle loves to cook so he will be chef on this day. The rest of us will be helping them to organize the house. They are moving in this weekend. Amid the chaos will be good food, friends and family.
Chen, I love Buffy and I loved that episode. My all time favorite is the one that was totally sung. Especially the Bunny/Rabbit Song. It was a good show. I love your borrowing the slaughtered pilgrim idea. And that Reggie is Cumash and knows what they are saying is real. How great is that. I can't wait to meet you. We are the same age and seem to like many of the same things.
I hope everyone has a safe, happy, peaceful day, filled with love and warmth.
    Happy Turkey Day

    My husband ordered the food
My husband ordered the food , never done that before but we have to make adjustments. I felt quilty because we cant travel to relatives, but I just cant. I am accepting what I cannot change and in a strange way its a gift. I also feel the love from my family as they find it unaccepatable to leave me home for even a few hours. which i am fully capable of. I am very excited as my daughter is coming home for TG and I have not seen her in 3 months she is away at college. I could not go to parents weekend once again something Icould not do. I am excited about us all being together.

    Gobble Gobble Gobble!
My niece/daughter and I are cooking for about 25 people~ I adore cooking and decorating the house with festive autumn colors~ it is my favorite holdiay by far! Siobhan (niece/daughter) is in her 2nd year of culinary school, and whereas she has always helped out and been a delight, I expect miracles in the kitchen this year! LOL

As some of you remember, my Reggie is Native American, and we laugh at how fitting it is that a White Woman(me!) is cooking for a group of Indians! He half-jokingly calls this holdiay Thanks-Taking!

I have 2 traditions: For anyone here and having morning coffee, it is mandatory that we watch a particular episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Yes, I have all 7 seasons on DVD. We watch a Thanksgiving episode where the Slayer and her friends are visited by the angry spirits of long-dead Chumash Indians. Actual Chumash language is spoken, and whereas it is a funny, clever episode, it is not far off the mark, historically speaking. Why do we watch this episode in particular? Well, Reggie and all of the Tribal members who are coming for dinner are of the Chumash Tribe! They speak the language, and can vouch for the authenticity of the words spoken. Very cool!

The 2nd tradition I "stole" from that same Buffy episode, and we have enjoyed it for years now! I have boy and girl Pilgrim rag dolls and I admit that for comic relief, I went to a toy store, bought plastic arrows, and ran the poor pilgrims through! The sit semi-proudly in the middle of the dining table as the crowning centerpiece until they are replaced by the REAL star of the day~ the turkey!

So, the day is noisy, fun -filled, satisfying, delicious, with just enough political in-correctness thrown in to make it interesting!Would any of you expect any less from the likes of me? I didn't think so! LOL

    Hugs,
    Chen♥

    Interesting
I live on the Navajo reservation and we were just having the conversation of exactly how does thanksgiving go over here? Thanks for some insight.

    Thanksgiving
My sister is going to do all the cooking. I am not supposed to do anything. She thinks I need to relax. She just discovered she has squamous cell carcinoma on her arm. She has more suspicious spots that her Dr wants to check out, and she may have cervical cancer. But she feels that I need to relax.
My neice and nephew, (her son and daughter) are both coming home from college for the holiday and my daughter and grandson will be home from Germany!
It will be a wonderful Thanksgiving with much to be thankful for this year. Among other loved ones who can not be with us, we will have my nephew and son in law in our thoughts as they are both in Iraq.

I will be in charge of
I will be in charge of community Thanksgiving dinner- about 250 people. Lots of family is coming to help me, so it should be a great day. Two youngest grandchildren are coming to stay with me & hubby also--ages 7 & 9. I am so glad that I have regained enough strength to be able to help out others in need. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

    Going to my mom's
We are going to my mom's and all I have to bring is rolls. I love Kentucky Fried biscuits so I think I will pick some the night before and put them in a ziploc so they don't dry out.

There will only be 4 of us.
    Happy Thanksgiving.
    Margo

P.S. Why did I start eating right to lose weight before the holidays? Portion control this year.

    Fairly quiet dinner at home
My daughter is coming home from college; she's in Boston. I'm soooo excited. I miss her like crazy when she leaves! As I'm a divorced mom and it is MY Thanksgiving this year, I will be cooking for my kids and I'm very excited. A good thing that came out of divorce is that my kids have realized they like only 'my' Thanksgiving dinners. They have had a few with the inlaws and look forward to coming home to my leftovers (because I cook the meal even when I don't eat home or host Thanksgiving... we ALL love the leftovers). Thank God I'm well enough that I can shop & cook. I was so afraid going into this that my holidays would be ruined. I can see they won't be. I'm not scheduled again for chemo until the Thursday after Thanksgiving and then my 4th should be on Christmas Eve. Not too sure what will happen with that, but I'd be ok with it. I feel fine the day of and the day after, so my Christmas wouldn't be affected.

Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving and that they spend it exactly as they want to!

    Hugs ~ Mar

    I replied to this
and then went to read what everyone else wrote. I must say that I'm not a jealous or envious person by any means, but this time of the year is my absolute favorite. I have never had a big family. My ex, however, does. We always hosted holidays at our house and that is one thing I TRULY miss from my marriage! I LOVE big families and I absolutely love getting everyone together and hosting it as well. None of my inlaws helped with the cooking or the clean up but I still loved it. It seems very awkward to not have all the hustle and bustle, but 'everything happens for a reason'. I always hoped to have that again one day... but who knows!
