Far-infrared light therapy - can it hurt?

We have some good friends who own a far-infrared light therapy "bed" (like a cot) and they have offered it to us for Richard to use. I have done a little research on the Internet and have found mixed claims - some sites claim it as an all-out cure for cancer, but others have debunked that. The claim is that cancer cannot survive the temperature of the infrared light. Now I don't believe the cancer-curing claim, but it does seem to have some therapeutic value for pain relief and relaxation.

Does anyone have any further information about this therapy? Is there a chance it could actually be harmful and encourage cancer growth?

Richard's last scan results showed some new cancer growth in the liver, so we are switching to second line chemo. We're willing to try just about anything at this point!

    Hi Again AJ!! LOL
Well, to be honest, I have never heard of such a thing, and really don't believe in "Cure alls" I'd be careful with that, it just doesn't even sound safe, but who knows, weirder things have happened! I hope someone has more of an answer for you though :)

    Hugsss!

    Infrared for neuropathy
    Hi AJ

I don't have any experience with the infrared that you are talking about. However, I go to PT 3x/week to receive infrared therapy to my feet for the leftover Grade 1 neuropathy from FOLFOX treatment. Infrared is used in diabetic neuropathy, and it increases circulation and ATP production. My neuropathy is slowly improving (now 5 months out from last treatment) but hard to say what has contributed to the improvement since I'm doing lots of other things too like acupuncture and supplements.

Hope you find an answer to your question, Leslie

I'd heard about heat being used for breast cancer. Check it out!

    toast
I don't have any relevant experience to offer, either, but I do have an infrared toaster oven which works well. So if the device turns out not to cure cancer, it may nonetheless be useful in food preparation.
