my husband has never been on avastin but, i will tell you that if it works and buys you 4-6 mos. do it. in that amount of time another approved treatment may come along. temodar did not work for my husband and the only choice was a clinical trial, we did it for about 6mo. then an approved drug came along which he used until they decided that he was stable enough to get off all chemo therapy. he is cancer free and is a 10 yr survivor this month. he is not the same man but in many ways better. if he didn't have parkinson's as well he would be able to golf and take long walks and pretty much live a fairly normal life. hoping for the best for you and your husband.

Thanks for your feedback. We are definitely going to go with the Avastin treatment. What drug was your husband on? Did he have a lv. 4 GBM? My husband's prognosis is not good. I hear such positive stories such as your husband's, but know that the type of tumor, the level, the location and whether or not it is operable all play into the prognosis....so many unknowns.

his was a grade 3 anaplastic
his was a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma. it was inoperable and located near the thalmus. his last drug was a combination of ccnu and procarbazine which he tolerated well and as i wrote eventually they took him off it and there has not been a return of the tumor. he early on because of the tumor developed double vision, some hearing problems and numbness on his right side. later was diagnosed with parkinson's and that has caused the most problems. i have said many times on this sight if he had only to deal with the aftermath of the tumor he would still be playing golf and being active. it was just unfortunate that he came down with 2 unrelated diseases. have read many encouraging things regarding gbm patients and hope the outcome is good for you and your husband.
