    Speaking of goals....
LOL about the wine! Today when Doc asked how much and often I drank, I proudly said only on weekends and only one or two! Hubby stepped in and clarified "bottles", not glasses.
I think this week I will go through my clothes and get fall clothes ready to wear. Then make a list of what I need to purchase. I fit into NOTHING!! Doc keeps telling me no diet right now. They have been telling me this for 4 months!! I only want to lose 10 pounds! So I will also try to increase my exercise. Pammy

    "That's bottles, not glasses"
Ha ha! Yes, that was totally me on the weekends. Now, it is down to glasses again.

So, how is everyone making progress? I woke up early enough to pick out a nice outfit this morning and eat breakfast (although I wasn't enjoying my homemade oatmeal that much). Last night, I packed my lunch, so that was good.

Today, my mini goal is to be productive at work. Oh my god, I was dismal yesterday. Post your progress, ladies, and we can all celebrate on Friday!

    Cool thread!
If you don't mind I'm going to copy some of what others have said:

    1. Mimi - I liked your #2 - pick out outfits that make me look put together in the morning. I didn't get my outfit ready last night and was scrounging around today finding something to wear - not the best thing on the first day back to work.....

    2. Exercise every day for 15-30 minutes. I was home for a month and never got to the point of exercising for 30 minutes each day. My regular doctor told me he wants me to exercise an hour a day (yeah, right). This is something I NEED to do for myself.

    3. Eat more fruits and veggies and drink lots of water now that I'm back at work. While I was at home I didn't have a problem drinking enough water or eating enough fruits and veggies. I'll have to make sure I take some each day for snacks and lunch so I can get my 10 servings each day.

    4. Make a big pot of vegetarian chili for Thursday (a chili cook-off at work that day). I use 6-10 different kinds of beans and soak them overnight. Throw in some red peppers, carrots and celery and presto - yummy chili. I hope I win. P.S. I'm not a vegetarian, just don't like meat in my chili.

    5. Finish knitting the shawl I started a year ago. It would be nice to wear it this fall.

Mimi - thanks for starting this thread. It will be a challenge and I look forward to letting everyone know I finished everything on my list.

    Exercise
Yeah, my doctor told me an hour a day, too. I've never been able to do that. I do have a very vigerous spinning routine (covered in sweat, panting, generally feeling like I will die!) about 3 times a week for 45 minutes. I would like to increase that to 5 times a week for 45 minutes, 1 day a week resistance training with my trainer, and then yoga on Sundays. That's my dream scenario. Still working on it.

Good luck in the chili cook off. I love all of the fall activities we get to do now: make chilis and soups, wear boots, make shawls (or, in my case, buy them.), light fires....

Oh Crud~ one day and I am
Oh Crud~ one day and I am already not doing all I wanted to do! I had a glass of wine with dinner last night...arrrghhhhh, and it was on a Monday! Ok, inhale, exhale, today is a different day to do what's right...

Dinner was healthy and delicious though! I used a lot of the end of the season harvest of veggies from my garden~~peppers, tomatoes, onions, cut into big chunks, drizzled with olive oil,sea salt/pepper, and roasted them in a 400 degree oven for half an hour or so. In the meanwhile, I seasoned boneless skinless chicken breasts with oregano and seared them in a hot skillet with a bit of olive oil till golden brown.
I then added add the the yummy, caramelized, roasted veggies to the browned chicken, added a splash of white wine to the skillet and simmered it for 20 mins while I cooked ( of all things!)BROWN RICE PASTA! It looks like pasta, tastes like pasta, but is much healthier brown rice!
I served the chicken/veggies over the "pasta", and voila! Fast, healthy, good tasting dinner!

We all love veggies, so it was an instant hit!

I go to Jazzercize tonight and ok...NO WINE!

I didn't have the nerve to
I didn't have the nerve to make a dentist appointment so my husband did for me. Now I'll have to go. This is the first time I've gone since we moved and I don't know how a new dentist will handle me. My arm tremors and when I get nervous it really moves. The last time I went to the dentist my leg tremored also. I was like a fish out of water. The dentist there was good and said it didn't bother her. We will see how this one is.

Ok, so day one is over...
Don't worry about the one glass of wine. That's only one for the week so far. You can still meet your goal! OK, I am off to cycling class.

PS. The veggie and chicken dinner sounds delicious. I am intrigued by the brown rice pasta. I had regular brown rice yesterday. You say the pasta version is healthier? Hmmm, I'll have to check that out.

The pasta version is not healthier than Brown Rice, it IS brown rice, so it is healthier than wheat flour "regular" pasta! Sorry I wasn't clear about that!

    Ok my goals are very
Ok my goals are very numerous and I hope that by writing them down I get to do them. LOL

    1) Try to get some dinner together so that I can give hubby a break from cooking every night. I'm going to try to make a few dishes tonight if I don't get home too late and then just heat them up the rest of the week.

    2) I have to get back to the gym. With all the muscles cramping up I stopped going to the gym under the advise of the PT but now he said I needed to go back. Hmmmm

    3) Keep up with laundry especially the ironing arggghhhhh.

    4) Try to leave the office at a decent time and not 7pm every night.

    Hugs, Lili

    Lofty and noble goals, Lili!
Lofty and noble goals, Lili! The laundry and especially the ironing are such chores, aren't they?? I keep thinking that if I wait long enough, the clean, folded laundry will miraculously find it's way back in their closets...so far it hasn't happened! LOL

    Good idea Mimi!
    This is a great idea.

    1. I'm with you all on the wine! My liver tests did not look too swift...maybe chemo..but the wine does not help...so sparkling water!!

2.Go to the gym at least 3 times a week..I know I can do it.

    3. The pounds are packing on again...so less snacking and healthy meals.

4.Enjoy every morning when I get up in the dark and get breakfast for Bert..might not be able to achieve that one.

I'm surprised about the fresh food since I was advised that fresh was better than cooked.

    Goals for my "good" week
This week is my "good" week before chemo next week, so I have two goals:

    - Walk 30 minutes on my lunch hour each day (I haven't had the energy to even leave the office the past two weeks, but started to feel a little stronger over the weekend)

    - Eat at least two servings of vegetables and/or fruits each day (I can't look at a vegetable -- raw or cooked -- for about a week after each chemo, so I want to get back to my healthy eating habits this week)

Someone may need to start a 12-step group for VickiSam and me -- I bought two more hats over the weekend! But isn't the first step that I have to *want* to change? :-)

And I must disagree with Pat -- watching Dancing with the Stars is not a goal, it's a necessity!! :-)

    Traci

Traci and MimiVac .. I need help .. Brought another
4 hats late last night on line .. Chic Options .. Parkhurst, or course. I am blaming my spurge on === pre chemo hormones med. Right ?

    If anyone is interest ..

www.chichairoptions.com .. wonderful sale going on - Also, you can name your price on Ebay - chic options have several wonderful hats that I purchased. Parkhurst hats at 60% of list price.

    Yes, I may need a 12-step group - very soon. ...

received my 5 1/2 3 chemo cocktail today .. feeling like dog poop! But, I refuse to get down or stressed. Working thru the fatigue.

VickiSam .. aka Parkhurst Hat fanatic :-)))))))))

Thanks again, Mimi~ seems we are so on the proverbial same page about alcohol! I must say, I soo enjoy the end of the day wine or cocktail. Guess what's what constitutes a sacrifice, huh? LOL

As far as Reggie's daughter? It isn't so much that I get angry~ but I truly don't like her, and how manipulative and ungrateful she is, especially toward Reggie. I don't SHOW anger, but I must say I often feel very agitated and emotionally stressed. I can actually feel my body tensing and being as she doesn't care if I like her or not...the only person this is affecting is ME! So again, now that it is in writing~ I am making a true concerted effort to be not just physically, but emotionally healthy as well. Whew!!!! :-)

I am working on my stress
I am working on my stress reactions. Right now I am trying to take a "yogic" approach. I say to myself "in this moment, can I have nothing by respect and love for this person?" So it's not forever, just for one moment. The idea is that it retrains your mind/body and detoxifies. All that matters is the moment. When I remember to do it, it really helps.

I just hate to commit, so
I just hate to commit, so it's Tuesday night. I am going to Sun Valley tomorrow night for a two- (possibly three-)day conference, so I'd better set some goals.

    1. Not to overeat. A group of us are staying at a condo. This is both good and bad. Good, because I don't have to worry about conference buffets. Bad because the people I am with love to eat.

    2. Find time to exercise. I am packing my bike and yoga mat and there's a pool. No excuses.

    3. Make a list of questions I need answers to so that I can better serve my students. Then, ask them!

    4. Try not to spend too much money. : )

    5. Have a blast.

It's that old song "2 out of [4] ain't bad
but it's not good either. I'm not trying to catch up on everything at work all at once and I am packing my lunch and healthy snacks the nights before. HOWEVER! It's 9:30 PM Hawaii time and I'm on the computer and I've worked 2 full days even though I was a bit tired today. Oh well - "I'll think about [those] tomorrow. Good night!

Lynn, have fun. And Goal Check IN!
I know you can stick to your goals and have a great, productive time as well. Yoga and biking in Sun Valley sound great. Please report when you get back!

Well, it is Wednesday and I am doing great with my eating this week. Healthy meals filled with vegetables and good grains, beans, lentils, brown rice, sweet potatoes. Lots of fruits. I exercised twice this week already and plan to go today as well. No alcohol so far. I am taking care with my appearance every morning. Today, I have a challenge since I'm going out with a friend for dinner. I need to keep the drinnks to a minimum and the meal as healthy as possible (my splurge meal is on Fridays). I am determined to do it.

One thing I am NOT doing well in is work productivity. I NEED to get my butt moving (or my fingers typing, in this case) today, now, this instant. Please give me a swift kick and tell me to get in gear. I need it!

Hope everyone is doing well, too. Report in when you can. Let's all accomplish our goals so we can have a fun, relaxing weekend. Can't wait for Roll Call this week!

I totally blew it so far....
I have not even touched my closet yet. I have Dr appts tomorrow and this pretty much only leaves Friday left to accomplish my goal. Yikes, I need to get in gear. Half the week is already gone. Maybe I can do some after appts tomorrow. Pammy

I blew it a bit, too
Well, it's almost Roll Call time. How are we all doing on our goals? Last night I went out with my friend Lisa and had a bit too much to eat and drink. My goal was 2 drinks, but I had 3. Although I must say that they were EXTREMELY weak. I also had a procuitto pressed sandwich and a bowl of butternut squash soup. Not Terrible. BUT, then I ALSO ordered hot pretzels with mustard and deviled ham. So, today I am picking up the pieces. This morning, I got up a bit early and slid into a hot bubble bath before work (mint-ginger bubbles!). The cleaning service had scrubbed that tub so well, I couldn't resist. So, healhy lunch today and a roasted chicken with vegetables and lentils tonight. Hope everyone is doing well. Almost the weekend!!
