Hey everyone!!!

I'm getting chemo right now as I am typing this. I am receiving Taxotere and Irinotecan. Hopefully these will kick my cancer's a$$. :0) The taxotere has ran all the way through, waiting for the iv to finish flushing, then on to the Irinotecan. So far I'm not feeling much for side effects...with the next one I guess I have to watch for sweating and flushing. But, just thought I'd say hello from my lovely bed. :0) Hope everyone is doing well and hanging in there!!!!

    Hi
    Hey Kitten

I'm just doing alittle housework while Al is taking a nap. He started the ativan and I guess he still isn't used to it yet, also he was up a couple of times last night with diarrhea.

How often will you be getting chemo? Al is on the irnotecan we just call it cpt 11 it's easier. You should be almost if not done already. Are they giving you post hydration with it? If not I think you should be its supposed to help keep away the abdominal cramping.

I get to go to my nephews 30th birthday party on Sunday Can't wait, Its been awhile since
I've seen everyone and a couple of cold ones too

You know I'm pulling & praying for you.
Let us know how it goes.

    Talk soon,

You have to keep very hydrated on chemo
If they don't then you have to do it for yourself. Also, did they give you something to stem nausea? Layne's zofran was a huge help during chemo.

Now is a good time to take up reading a long novel or making an afgan or something. Those long chemo visits are very boring :)

    Hi Betty!!

Thanks for the advice!! They did have one saline bag run through me inbetween chemos, but I've also just been trying to drink a lot on my own. They've loaded me up with whatever I want/need for nausea. I have Emend, Compazine, Zofran, and they give me an injection during chemo for nausea as well...so I'm definitely doing ok so far in that department, just a few minor belly cramps here or there. I love reading, so that's usually what I partake in. I think I may go to lunch and a movie with my parents today before my counts drop too low to go out amongst a lot of people. You're right, those long visits can be very boring! We usually request a private room, they have nice tv's with what they call Video on Demand so we can choose from hundreds of movies to watch, so hubby and I usually just hang out and watch a film.

    Talk to you soon!!!

Abe, yes...I was told it is a strong drug, so far just a few belly cramps from it. I've been trying to drink a lot of fluid. Yes, I have to take steroids the day before, day of, and day after with the chemo I'm on...I'm also on taxotere. I'm not looking forward to the hair loss, but I have my wig sitting and waiting for me, I was suppose to lose it on my last go around of chemo but never did. I have already noticed that it makes me very tired, I took two naps yesterday and slept most of the night, until 9 this morning. When I go for chemo, my husband takes me, and if he's not able to one of my parents or in-laws do so I don't have to drive....the clinic I go to is 4 and a half hours away. Right now my treatment regimen is once every three weeks. You are so great to Linda, she is very lucky to have you!!!

    Hey!

I'm doing ok, I'm having a couch day though, having some yucky belly cramps. Mayo just called in some tylenol with codine for me to see if that'll help, as regular tylenol and ibuprofen aren't cutting it. If The tylenol with codine doesn't work I'll have to go to my local hospital for something stronger, as they can't prescribe narcotics to me from Mayo. I'm glad to hear you got some rest, you deserve it!!

    Yuck
    Hi Cath,

Sorry to hear about your tummy, hope the meds help. If they don't help see if your pharmacist has some good old coke syrup. Thats what my mom used on us when we had what she would have a bad belly. Some pharmacys still carry if & for some reason it works.

Al is still spiking temps on & off. He wont be able to come home until he doesn't hava a temp or 24 hours. He did sound better when I called after lunch.

It's a good thing I actually really do love a good thunder storm, I have ever since I can remember my sister thought that I was weird lol..Thats why I lover your quote so much.

Keep resting, I talk to you soon.

    agreee with Kathy
    Cathy,
I agree with Kathy...coke syrup can do wonders. I always keep it in the house.
Also, when you leave Mayo, won't they write you a script for something stronger just in case you need it?? Just a thought.....
    Feel better.
