Well... had my first experience with this new Scan. Of course I was up most of the night cleaning my body with all that stuff I had to drink. Went in at 9:00 A.M and was injected the Nuclear liquid nad sent home until 2:00P.M On my return very quickly on the table and I was there about two hours. Had a little nap. I was asked to move my armas up and spent another 45 minutes without making a move. After all this time the Tech. Told me I was done and as ususl they say nothing no matter what yu may say. I asked if he found what he wwas looking for and all he said was YU HAD A LOT OF TIME ON THE TABLE. My next visit is tomorrow which should be another hour, results should be 48 hours. the machine is not like the CScan or the Pet Scan its just some cameras that revolve around you starting at your head.

The Tech explained to me that what they are looking for as anyting connected to Carcinoma and areas where some of it could be. My cancer was Carcinoma and that is what they are looking for while at the same time they can see how the internal healing of the surgery is coming along. I guess I will know more tomorrow. No explanation why more people don't know more about this new Scan......????

Saludos...

Carlos....I've never heard of that kind of scan, but it sounds interesting. Sorry it took you so long to get it done though. Please let us know when you get the results please. Don't forget now? LOL

A lot of time on the table!
(I suspect the techs are trained to say innocuous things when patients ask how the scan was, because they're probably not allowed to pass on much medical info before the Radiologist sees the scans)

..."Of course I was up most of the night cleaning my body with all that stuff I had to drink." - ooh, shades of a colonoscopy, not fun, not fun...

Your experience actually doesn't sound too bad, almost like the MUGA scans I used to have while on the clinical trial drug, with the camera and everything. I hope your results are great!

Can you clear up one thing? If you have papers from the hospital about the scan, can you check to see which it is - Ostreoscan, osteoscan, or octreoscan?

    OSTREOSCAN
I just finished my third day. Same as the first two. But I am done.

What I do not understand is: When I was told about this scan, my Onc. said...."You don't have to have it done" But I recommend it. If I have an option NOT TO HAVE IT DONE...??? what benefit can I get out of it? When my PetScan showed my Carcinoma, the Dr. told me "You don't have to get the operation but...eventually it COULD kill you.

Well... anyway. I had it done and in 48 hours I will find out and will report to the list.

    Thanks

    MY FIRST OSTREOSCAN
As I promised. My Onc. just called me with....CONGRATULATIONS. Your OSTREOSCAN, came back absolutely clean. No trace of any tumors or Carninoma etc. In other words I am clean of any Cancer in my system. I do not need any tretament of any type and I don't have to see him until October 2009. I must say that while I was concerned I was also resigned myself for anything because this is the monster that we are facing when we face Cancer. I DO CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY AND EVEN THINK THAT GOD MUST HAVE SOMETHING IN STORE FOR ME. At 77 with a full filled life .....What more can I do to help others????? I do have 18 Grandchildren and 4 great grands. I already saw my first two oldest Grandchildren get married. My last (little girl Kandyce) who is only 19 months old, lives with us and keeps us on the move with her 4 year old brother. Well friends.... I will keep on the list and will keep on reading and responding as Joe SOCCERFREAKS does. He knows so much and helps so much that I personally thank him for some of the strong suppporting words he hit me with back in May when I first joined. THANKS JOE AND GOD BLESS YOU....

I am truly humbled and honored. I am especially glad to read that you will continue the tradition of many others here in spreading the knowledge, experience and HOPE that you have acquired through your personal battle with cancer.

In the meantime: time for Don Carlos to do the happy dance :)!!!!

    Congratulations!!!

Take care, my friend, with best wishes to you and your family and friends,
