Our feeding tube came out this morning along with rest of the staples. Our surgeon told my husband this morning that "SON I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD SEE ME AGAIN" meaning he was knocking on heavens door. My husband now knows how close he came to death. He has now been released to eat whatever he wants when he wants it. That was more exciting than anything. For the ones of you that know me I officially get to retire "MY GIRL PANTIES" AND "MOES SHOES" I feel I have finally finished with both of them, and man I surely am glad and I hope I don't have to bring those out for a long while. With that being said I will be married to him on the 21st for 3 years and we are going to celebrate, but we are going out to eat tonight since it is his first meal to officially eat since the 21st of July.

Would I do this road again "I DON'T KNOW" am I happy we did it "YES" but it was a scary road and a long road, lots of loss sleep, and lots of not leaving the hospital.

I hope I can continue to help other on this site.

I'm hoping to be there with my dad one day soon too!!! The thought of surgery for him does scare me, but the after surgery is going to be so rewarding!!! My most hearty congratulations! You deserve to be normal again! I hope to be at that point in my life soon. May God continue to smile on you!

I really miss food - I'm the cook in the household and have been known to grill or b-b-q in a raging snowstorm. Stoves are for simmering sauces, the grill is where it happens. I'm envious of Papa's ability to eat normally. My wife, Lori still doesn't fully understand my predicament and fixation with good food. Ensure and applesauce tend to get old rapidly, as you all know. When I travel to appointments I carry at least 6 cans of Ensure with me in my 'kit.'

I've studied the culinary art under Chef Julie Hoskins, Executive Chef and owner of Chic le Chef. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America.

I can adapt almost everything except poached eggs to the grill so if anyone wants an idea, especially wild game, please let me know.

Wild goose I see your wife and I have the same name, wow how odd is that, yes my husband said the same thing applesauce gets old, you can have oatmeal, pudding, eggs, mac and cheese soft foods like that should be okay for you to eat My husband is also the cook in the house and he is known to cook on the grill in snowstorm sounds like you two have alot in common you don't say your age but he is 45. Hang in there she will get the hint of what you have to go through I too hope you get to have surgery soon. Please know I will be glad to help you in anyway I can I have been there and done that
