I was told that I have to go for 2 injections of Thyrogen One since I can not get scanned for my thyroid anymore. My body does not seem to like the dosages of Synthroid I have to be on, it makes me very anxious, heart palputations, sweats, etc(great when I am going out). So, I am taking a lower dose of Synthroid. I was told these injections could make me anxious-WHAT, just what I need. Anybody experience this and for how long? Any other side effects since I seem to get all the side effects? Also, what did you get accomplished by getting these injections? I have to go for blood work after the injections. Did your blood level reveal anything after the injections? Anxiously awaiting your response.....

    Thyrogen injections
I had the thyrogen injections after I had been on a LOW IODINE DIET for 2 weeks. The injections keep you from having to come off your hormone meds (synthroid). I did feel different in ways, but I think a lot of it was mental. The worry of the whole body scan. My scan came back clean. This was for my 1 year follow up check.

    Thanks
Thanks for replying. I guess not only I but my doctor missed the boat-so to speak. He did not tell me to go on a low iodine diet now or before. I am getting the injections this week and then blood work next week. He did not mention another scan. I guess I am calling the doc tomorrow-thanks!

    with the Thyrogen injections-
with the Thyrogen injections-I Received a low dose of Ratioactive iodine. If I had any Thyroid cancer in my body the Ratioactive iodine would be drawn to it and the cancer would light up on the body scan. The Thyrogen injections are to raise your TSH levels so your piturtary glands starts to funtion. When this happens if you have thyroid cancer it will
show in your blood work, they will check your thyroglobin level. If it is high you have thyroid cancer somewhere.I had my cancer in March 08. I'm glad I choose to take my complete thyroid out. I had a nodule in one side that was almost 2 cm. Had a fine needle bio, which came back inconclusive. The doctor said I could wait 6 months and check it again but I went ahead and had a my right lobe removed. It came back papilary cancer, 2 weeks later had another surgery. I take synthroid, started out on 135mci, i've had it changed 6 times. I'll get to feeling strange and call my doc and he'll say come in and have blood work. Usually I would notice the waking up in the middle of the night, sweating, during the day I might get light headed can't concentrate. You just have to listen to your body. If you have a good Endo he will know what to do to get your body regulated. Most people don't realize what the thyroid dose till they loose it. I know I did'nt. Take care!
