    That's what I have,
That's what I have, adenocarcinoma. Did they tell you a stage yet or surgery or what are your options?

    waiting on pet scan
the dr is sending me for a pet scan to see if it has spread, then he said I would get chemo and them surgery. is that the typical order of things I thought maybe he felt if he shrinks the tumor in my lung he would have to remove less of the lung . i thought they usually did surgery firs and then chemo he said that if it has not spread maybe stage 1 or 2 I have been very positive about this I dont dwell on what might happen I only focus on each day and each test. my sister died of lung cancer 15 years ago she was 47 and went quickly but never told anyone what was going on, so we dont know what stage she was in when diagnosed thank you for all the answers I focus on all the positive comments you all make on this board and keeps me feeling there is always hope

    Sounds like you are doing
Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Staying positive. I think sometimes they do give chemo first to shrink the tumor. Did you have any symptoms? or did they find it by accident?

    Fever?
Have you taken your temperature lately? I always know when I have a fever because I have similar symptoms to yours: I can't get warm and my joints ache. Sometimes we have infections that cause a fever. I don't know what comes with lupus, but sometimes pneumonia or respiratory infections that won't go away signal that something is wrong with your immune system. In my case, it was lung cancer. In yours it sounds like they need to run some tests. Don't panic! Just stay in touch with your doctor and hang on to all your test results. It helps you if you collect test results in a three hole notebook binder so that you will have them all together for whatever doctors you see. I know they can request your records, but that takes precious time and sometimes the systems loses things. If you have your reports, they may have an easier time figuring out how to make things better. Good luck!

    PS
I just wanted to add that when I can't get warm, I snuggle with a hot water bottle or a heating pad on low. Mind you, I never lay on a heating pad--you can get burned that way. But sometimes the little bit of warm really helps.

    thank you
right now my best friend is my electric blanket a friend bought me. thank you for all the info I do carry my lab and test results with me but very unorganized. I like the binder idea.have you heard of getting chemo before surgery that is what my dr is recomending. after my pet scan comes back if its clear I don't know what he will do if he finds it has spread but I am not thinking that far ahead one day at a time I have never gotten the feeling I am going to die I don't know if I being unrealistic or just have a clinical way of looking at things, even my dr. was suprised I haven't fallen apart but i figure thats not going to help
I think if I start Chemo next week that this has all gone by so quickly that its just been one test after another and now I am almost done and on my way to getting it taken care of.

    electric blankets
My daughter recently sent me a book HOW TO PREVENT AND TREAT CANCER WITH NATURAL MEDICINE
Endorsed by the Cancer Treatment Center of America. VERY VERY GOOD BOOK. It does mention to not use electric blankets, along with lots of other things. The cost of this book is $17.00 but well worth it. It not only tells you what foods and vitamins to take it tells you why. It explains everything!!! I believe everyone should read this book.

    Chat room
nanaof7, if you go to CSN Home, there in the middle should be a link to the chat rooms. You have to give it time to load, though.

I also lost a very close
I also lost a very close friend to lung cancer same way as your sister. By the time they found hers it was too late to do anything. My primary physician found a very tiny spot of cancer in my right lower lobe. I had VATS surgery. Not to bad. They didn't cut me completely open. This is what they do in most cases (VATS Surgery). They staged me at Stage Ia. Removed the entire lower lobe. checked lymphnodes found nothing. I did not receive chemo. I was back to work at the Post office 10 weeks later. I have a very physical job so that is what took so long. If I had a regular office job it would have been 8 weeks. I just went back for my 6 month check up (CAT Scan) and everything was good. No sign of cancer. It was a great relief. I feel great I walk about 1.5 miles every day and exercise at Curves for 30 minutes 4 times a week. Cancer is not a death sentence. Just because it happened to your sister and my friend doesn't mean that is what will happen to us. The best advice I can give you is to keep records of all your tests. I keep mine in a binder. Also you may want to get a second opinion you are intitled to it. I am not treated locally. I go to a cancer hospital a few hours from my home. And I'm am glad I did. But continue testing even if you decide to get a second opinion. And even if yours is not stage Ia, remember there are alot of survivors on this web site that doctors said would not make it. Stay positive. And keep in touch.
