I have dedicated a web page to my husband, Gary Poland, My Prince! It is;

http://home.comcast.net/~poljea

On April 28, 2008 My sweet, kind, loving, handsome, compassionate husband has been diagnosed with cancer. He has been given 3-6 months to live. I need to do this website for me and Gary. I started out doing this because I was so distraught and needed a placed to vent. Then I wanted to honor my husband. I then opened it up to you all to blog and I was amazed at the responses we are getting!!

We read the blogs together and Gary and I both cry and laugh. Gary decided he wanted to reach out to you also and he would dictate to me and I would type for him. Again, it was completely amazing the responses we were getting!

We decided to tell the raw, truth about cancer and what it really does to a strong, 2006 & 2007 NATIONAL TAE KWAN DO GOLD MEDAL winner, and his family.

We have been very honest here and will try to continue. The responses we have recieved in blogs has meant so much to us. It gives us strength when we feel weak. We thank you so much!!!! To read things from all of our family and friends...and now even people we don't know and people around the WORLD! That is amazing! We feel so blessed to have you all taking the time to read what we write and to blog us back. Thank you for helping our family fight the disease of Cancer.

Let's all pray for a miracle to whatever Higher Power you have as your own that somehow my Prince will pull out of this and we will live Happily Ever After.

http://home.comcast.net/~poljea

THANK YOU!!!!!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

OR you might pray that the rest of us live happily ever after. Maybe, if we don't spend so much time looking into mirrors, we can ALL pray that we ALL live happily ever after!

If it's not too much trouble.

PS...we are all dying; it is just taking some of us a bit longer than others.

A medical oncologist once told me: on one is a hundred percent and no one is zero percent. I wish you and your husband and everyone else the best of health.

My husband of 34 years passed away March 28,2007, of lung cancer. We refused to let any doctor tell us how long he had to live. We wanted to live each day to the fullest, even if it was just staying at home and watching movies together. I spent the last 2 1/2 years of his life taking full care of him. He didn't want any outsiders coming in, and I was content with each and every wish.
You must keep a positive outlook on each and every thing that is going on with your lives right now. People have out lived their doctors diagonses. Laugh, Laugh and then cry some. Don't depend on all your friends being by your side. I found out that only your true friends will be there until the end and after to comfort you, and help whereever needed.
Nobody should ever give up hope. Not survivors, caregivers, not anyone. There is hope, love and the strength of two people bonding on an issue that isn't fair. But then life isn't fair.
Just be together for how ever long that you have. And be at peace.

the pain we go through individually is terrible. Being a stage 4 cancer survivor and now being a caregiver of my husband I have been thinking about how many of us there are. It does make me kind of uncomfortable when people almost give a eulogy on this site and ooze with praise about their significant other also.. I practice live and let live. I am sorry for what is happening to you Soccerfreaks, I can't believe they really don't have anything yet as a vaccine or something...so many are making money off Cancer.

    Help From Above
I will be praying for you and your family for the Lord to give you the strength you will need to make it through these difficult times. My son was diagnosed with lung cancer and it made us all so very aware how precious life is. He is only 34 and the nicest, smartest person you would ever want to meet. A Joy To His Family And Friends. This has changed our lives and I hope through solidarity and information that one day cancer will be a thing of the past. Let us fight the big fight against cancer and ban together to strengthen humanity. God Bless you and your family and all my fellow readers those with and those without the condition. Continue to read all the blogs as knowledge is the key. from lbolden369 known as LB

LB...sorry to tell you, but Gary passed away just 6 short months ago. He fought until the end. His wife jeannie is in the process of writing a book about his life and his last days that will maybe help other families/caregivers. I'm sure she will post something when the book is finally done. My Mom's Quote
Mom, who is 75 and healthy, is watching her 50 year old son-in-law (my husband) slowly slip away. One day I said Mom this isn't what I had planned for my daughter's senior year and she said "life is what happens while you are planning".

So enjoy every day, fight the fight til the last breath, and when it's time to say good-bye do so lovingly and gracefully. Heaven is a pretty wonderful place I hear!

    Best Wishes

I needed to read your posting

I read your posting and it's what I needed to read.  Because my husband of 15 years has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and it's a rare type.  It's Just Me And My girls ages 9 and 13 and we try to enjoy every moment we have him.

Hi!  I just read through all of those posts for the first time.

My husband was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer shortly after our 15th wedding anniversary and thankfully he is still with me. We live 12 hours away from our closest family memeber and the others are much further.  We try to find a reason to laugh everyday.  And I am thankful for every moment.  Even the most mundane and seemingly insignificant things become fun and memorable.

We celebrate 20 years together in May.  Love, laugh and hug.  There will be tears, but every person and every cancer is different....never lose hope.

    God Bless.

I needed to read your post today! Congrats on your 20 year anniversary, to you and your husband! Maybe my husband will be blessed enough to have another 5 years here on earth. He was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer just this past August (26th, 2015). He is currently going through Chemotherapy treatments. Some days we are hopeful, some days not so much! It's VERY hard to watch my husband's health decline as much as it has in the past 3 1/2 months! I TRY not to lose hope. Some days, it's just so hard!

I am so happy that I could help you!  That is why I got on here.  It helps me to read what others are going through and share.  We definately have good days and bad.  Sometimes it is very difficult to keep him positive.  He doesn't have to take chemo, but his treatments do have side effects.  He really doesn't look like someone with cancer.  I really think the best we can do is share is share with each other and fill our loved ones with hope and laughter.  We always try to laugh!  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  Find something to be thankful for everyday and a reason to smile.

    Hugs!
