My mother-in-law was diagnosed with kidney cancer almost 1.5 months ago. The surgeon just put the surgery off AGAIN for another 2 weeks...is that normal procedure?

First, I am so sorry that your mother-in-law (and you and your family) are going through this.

Putting off the surgery isn't entirely unusual. From the time my tumor was found to the time I had the radical nephrectomy, it was a little over 2 months. First, my doctor ran me through CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, PET and bone scans. Then he had to get operating room time. And let me tell you, hospital operating rooms are scheduled tighter than tight and unless there is an immediate life/death situation, everybody gets in line. Mine was further delayed because none of his associates were free to assist with the surgery and we had to wait a little longer for that. It's miserable to wait, I know, but if you trust your surgeon / medical team, call and talk to them to get answers.

    Take care.

I had to wait almost a month or so for my surgery as well. As LbinSP said.. gotta get thru all the tests and the results and then get the operating room time. It is miserable to wait ~ no question.
I, too, called and hoped for sooner. Surgery was May 31... at that time they said they were booking into July already. I accepted May.
