    Hi,
I tried looking at your web page but for some reason I couldn't get it to come up. You can try e-mailing me and I can see if I can get to it that way. Anyway, I am sorry that you are going through this. I am a Stage IV colon cancer survivor. I had two metastatic spots to my lung that I had to have removed. I had a chest tube too and it was so uncomfortable, but after all the fluid was out of my lung they removed it. There was another woman in the room next to me who had the same exact surgery (thoracotomy) and she had to stay in the hospital longer than I did because she couldn't get her chest tube out yet. I don't know what your specific question is about the tube, but it just can take longer for some people than others to get it out. Are they managing his pain adequately?
I am sure that once your father gets released from the hospital you will be closer than ever. One of the blessings of going through a cancer diagnosis is that it really makes you realize what's important and what isn't. I'm glad you posted on the lung cancer forum too. Sometimes Sundays are really slow on here, so I bet you'll get more advice tomorrow.
    Take care,
    Susan

    Hi Susan,
I'm new to CSN and helping take care of my sister who has stage II esophagus cancer, she is 64. Our brother died two years ago of the same cancer at 49. My sister has had two rounds of chemo already, two more to go, and has done 17 treatments of 44 radiation treatments. It appears to be shrinking the tumor. I'm just trying to connect with people who are dealing with cancer. Thank you for listening. Carole

    Hi Carole,
I hope you see this post! Have you tried posting on the esophageal cancer forum? For some reason it seems like the specific cancer forums always get better response than this one, or the "Young Cancer Survivors" forum. Too bad because it would be nice to get these to become more popular. Anyway, hopefully someone on there can help more than I can. Sounds like this runs in your family. I hope your sister is faring well.
My only recommendation would be to try to eat a very healthy diet, exercise, get the negativity out of your life as best as you can in order to try to prevent and/or decrease your chances of coming down with cancer. I was the patient, not the caregiver, but I know it is really hard for you guys too!
    Take care and best wishes,
    Susan H.

Crud, I just realized there is not esophageal cancer thread. Hmmm, Maybe write CSN admin. Otherwise try posting in the stomach cancer forum? I'll keep checking this thread periodically.
    Take care,
    Susan

Thanks Susan for your reply and well wishes. I will try the stomach cancer forum. My sister is doing OK after 3 rounds of chemo...one more to go. She is weak but it improves the week after treatment. Hope all is going well with you:) Carole
