    harvs,

If you type "Penile Implant" in the search window at the top of this page you will find guys that have had experiences with implants.

    Best of luck.

I had implant surgery in November 2006. It took 1.5 hours. Mine was probably longer than normal because in 2005 I had hernia surgery so that the good doctor had to put the resevoir in through my abdomen over the top of the original RP scar. The pump and relaese valve went in my scrotum. By the way I paid for the AMS version of the implant which is supposed to be the gold standard - I also negotiated a discount of $3000 as I was paying and not the insurance company.

The post surgery effects were not particularly painful but the scrotum was sore for about 4 weeks - could not ride my bicycle!!

Having tried all the other remedies - viagra was a non starter for me as I had non nerve sparing surgery - they were pretty hopeless. This is wonderful. Unlike other respondents my doctor requested I cycle the pump every week but lay off intercourse for 5 weeks.

I hope this helps. All the best in your decision.

    Thanks Photon,

I appreciate your input. I see the Doc on Friday and will most likely proceed with this.

Harvs: I had the implant surgery last July and have been VERY satisfied with the result. I have the AMS 3-piece, and after the initial soreness and swelling, am doing just fine. If you decide to go with the implant, I'd be glad to respond to any specific questions you may have.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Willix,

I had the procedure last week (along with the Artificial Urinary Sphincter - both were the latest AMS devices). Boy, talk about soreness, it's amazing what they crammed in there. Doc said everything went well and he will activate things in 4 to 6 weeks. I'm looking forward to being a new man.
Were there any changes to sensations or feelings with the device?

Hi Harvs. I have been thinking of having the double procedure done like you have except I think about when I had the sling put in ( which didn't work ) and the soreness afterwards. I have had the Collagen injections but it only works for a little while. I am tired of having to wear pads and carrying one in my back pocket as a spare. Was it a big decision for you ? Thanks Ron

    Hello Ron

Sorry to hear about your experience with the sling. I've herd similar stories from others. I've tried Tegress injections which were painful and didn't work. I'm also tired of carrying pads in my pocket, briefcase glove compartment etc. I did the CaverJect penile shots for a while but that was a real drag. Talk about lack of spontaneity. So after all that, this double procedure was not a hard decision.

If you have more questions, let me know. Wish you the best

We have to wait about 4 weeks before activation to allow all of the healing process to complete. I won't know till then. I'll post the results as soon as I find out
