Greetings to all,
On Nov. 29th 06, I had Radical Prostatectomy.
I am 46 and had questions, hoping someone would shed some light on them.

1: 3 weeks after the surgery, I feel fine, and what are dos and don'ts.
2: Dr. told me he saved my nerves, how does that affect my erection?
Right now I have sensation what so ever. He has put my on 2 Cailes pills per week and even with that I have no sensation. However the desire is there.
3.: Does one ejaculate after such surgey?

Thx for your answers.

Hello Amoo, I also had a RP in September 2004 at the age of 41. The surgery went fine. However, I developed an infection in the urinary tract that caused scar tissue to develop in in the urinary tract. The scar tissue had to be removed in two subsequent psyto proceures. Each time I had the wonderful catheter as a partner for a week. The best thing you can do now is to take it easy and allow your body to heal. Even if you feel fine, your body just underwent major surgery and there are many areas that need to heal on the inside. As for the erections --- be patient. I think it was about two months after surgery before I had a successful erection with the assistance of viagra. I know of several other guys that were placed on the Cialis theraphy just as you were and it worked for some and others it didn't. I have used all three, Cialis, Levetria and Viagra. Viagra seems to work the best for me with cialis running a close second. It's been a little over two years since I had the surgery and I am able to obtain a full erection with the use of one of the medications. As for ejaculation -- it's gone. Your orgasims will be DRY but pleasurable. I also encourage you to use the kegel exercises to reduce/prevent incontinence. I started the exercises before surgery and continue them to this day. I only have leakeage ocassionaly when I left something heavy or drink a large amount of alcohol. I hope this helps.

    Hi Amoo,
I had the radical 3 years ago. Hearing the nerves were spared is the best you could want. After 3 weeks your body is still in a state of shock and healing. Give it time..

Your orgasms will be as pleasurable as before but they will be dry. The sensation is the same for you and your partner as before.
Normal function starts to return after 6 months and is pretty much back to normal after 3 years.

The more stimulation you receive the faster the nerves regenerate.

Do your Kegels and realize things will be fine.

    Best wishes

Amoo, I am 60 years old and just had surgery 12/27/06. I had my cat taken out this pass Wednesday and it was the best day of my life. Believe it or not, I had an erection and had sex with my wife the following morning. I have not started taking Cilais. I am working with my insurance company and trying to get them to pay for the prescription. The orgasm was no different than before the surgery, but there is no output of semen. I am having a little incontinence if I sneeze or cough. I am doing my K excercises. I hope it will stop in the next few weeks. So far so good.
