Diagnosed with BOT Squamous cell carcinoma. Had 3 chemo & 38 rad treatments - 5 dys/week ending 3 months ago... lost 55 lbs. Since then, I now have a double-chin like a bullfrog. Rad Dr. calls it a "Dewlap" which normally describes Iguanas or some doggy chins. It looks like I gained 30 lbs instead of losing the 55lbs I lost. Dr. says it is fluid draining into neck that used to be processed by lymph nodes which Rad fried. Has anyone experienced this? Does it eventually go away? How long does it take & does it disapear totally or only partially? It feels like firm jello under there.

I have the same thing going on. I just finished my treatment, but I have the same bullfrog chin that I'm not happy about. I'm actually embarrassed to go out and see people. I was told that it will eventually get better, but I was wondering if your skin flap scars have healed (have they 'pulled away' from the muscle tissue)?

I lost my goatee that I've had for 10 years and with my weak chin, I don't feel too great about myself. If anyone has experience this bloating, I would really like to hear what others have done to get through this.

    Hi Jeff-
I didn't have any surgery so I don't know what you mean by "skin flap scars". All I know is that I can't seem to find any information about this side effect and if there is any treatment (drainage) for it and what is this liquid (fluid or mucus???). Please keep in contact if you find any info & visa versa.

I didn't want to hear that you still have this chin problem three years later. Now I am really determined to get to the bottom of this problem. Please email me if you get any more info & visa versa. God bless you; at least your still here!
