I am not an expert in this area, but I do have several facts (you may need to research further). If one has had breast, ovarian, uterine, etc. type cancers, ESTROGEN IS A NO-NO! It can possibly precipitate recurrence or new growth. After my surgery for ovarian, my doctor put me on Megace not just to minimize hot flashes, but to minimize estrogen production. I have a friend who also went through ovarian cancer. Her doctor (much to her dismay) put her on HRT. Barely 1 year after her surgery her cancer returned, and full force. It has been 1 1/2 years and she is still on a weekly dose of chemo. Her levels have come down somewhat, but have not stablized at a lower level.

As I mentioned, these are issues that I'm familiar with because of my own personal experience and discussions with my doctor. Since my diagnosis I have stepped up my weight training program so that my estrogen levels will remain low, which is a direct result of the testosterone going up because of the workouts. No, I'm not growing hair nor getting a deep voice, etc. It is normalizing levels for me. I do not eat soy products, which can also elevate estrogen levels.

Hope I didn't ramble on too much, and I hope this helps to answer your question. I wish you the best in your search for answers. Are you speaking from personal experience? Keep us informed, as this will be education for us as well.

    God bless.
