I had a whipple on January 20, 2005, no other procedure or follow up after, then on the 21st of June, I had a CT scan and a finger sized growth was found, a biopsy done and the growth was said to be mostly solid, very little liquid areas but was non-cancerous. The growth was found on the back of my liver. Is this to be expected? Could it be scar tissue? I have another CT scan in September.

    hi,
I know I have non cancerous growths in my body too including on my liver. It is called FNH? I also have 1 on the kidney. I think growths are normal in the body.

    Hi,
You can grow scar tissue on any part of the organs that have been touched during surgery. And with such a huge surgery I'm sure you were looked over thoroughly. Congratulations on a successful whipple! You were very fortunate to have been a candidate. I had the distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy October, 2003 with no complications. So far, doing very well. I hope the same for you.

    distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy
I had a distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy june 2011. i am now 48 years old. I was very fit prior to surgery and most would say I am fit now. I am having a lot of pain in left abdomen, very close to the incision site but not incisional pain. I have not needed chemo or radiation.
Has anyone had this surgery and had complications?
