I am a post op(June 2003)total glosectomy and larygectomy patient who has been trying to get a Dynawrite speech synthesizer to try to get back to a somewhat normal life.My insurance company denied my request because my cancer was not "accidental",as if we all plan such things.I am not eligible for Medicare or Medicaid and my income is too high for Veterans Hospital care.My wife and I are both on disability compensation as our sole means of income and I cannot afford the nearly $4000 to buy a machine outright.Does anyone know of any alternative funding available to help defray the cost of one of these devices?Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.I have tried using a speech program with a laptop but the volume isn't loud enough and it isn't practical as a portable device. Thanks in advance. John Kelliher
