I am going for my first colonscomy after my resection. They gave me about 40 pills to take this time. Can anyone tell me if the procedure is any different after surgery and how anyone taken the pills? Are they better? Any tricks of the trade.
Thanks
Franny

Cannot help about the pills but my husband has his colonoscopy one year after surgery and it all went fine. The photos of his rectum were totally different to the ones taken at the time of diagnosis last year.....this time a lovely clean and tumour-free colon!

Just do as you are instructed with the pills as the colon needs to be completely clean. Every thing will be fine. Good Luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. I had my surgery one year ago tomorrow. And I know I shouldnt be such a baby but I am scared to death about this colonoscopy. Anyway, this is a new way, before I did the Colytely and the Nutralitly stuff and it was horrible. I just hope the pills are easier and I am just overall nervous about the whole thing. Thanks for posting

    Hi Franny,

My colon resection was on October 15, 2003, and I had my first colonoscopy following my surgery about a month ago. I was not given pills so I can't address that issue. However, my gastroenterologist took tissue around my resection and bioposied that to make sure all was clear, and it was.

I know you will be fine. Let us know.

    Hi Franny,
Good luck with the scope ,they weren't able to get passed my tumor with the first scope ,so I had one three mos after surgery and two days after chemo ,yukk. I am having another one on monday, between endoscopes and colonoscopies it will be the 13th in seven years at best they have been clear at worst some ulceration and some small polyps. Since the first one I have never had the levarge solution just a couple of glasses of picoprep and mag citrate followed by lots and lots of water , not my idea of a fun long weekend but it has helped insure that I have been ca free for 7 yrs ,good luck with yours , we can compare notes next week ((((()))) Ron.

Not sure what the pills are that you are talking about but I had my first scope a year later and it was so nice to wake up this time and they tell you it is all clear and they will see you again in so many years.

    Hi Franny,
I will be anxious to hear about your experience with the pills, which I will also be taking for my 1 year followup later in Novemeber. I got sick from the phospho soda, hurling the morning of the test, and sicker from the go-lightly, which I tried for the prep before my surgery. The pills are just another concentrated solution that pulls fluid into your gut to cause "total cleansing"; we all know what THAT feels like. I've also heard that they are more dehydrating, so drink the recommended amount of fluid and GOOD LUCK. Let me know how it goes.

Hiya Franny. My colonoscopy after surgery was a breeze. I worried that my resection would give me a different "feel" or "reaction" following the colonoscopy but those concerns were really unwarranted. Got thru it fine and have done so in following colonoscopies.(2 since my surg.)
You guys get pills?????geeeezz!!!!it has just got to be a better way than colonlightly----shudder tha thought!
    Hey-send some over!!!!!!
All tha best Fran, huggs kanga n Jen
