recurrence of cervical cancer

I am 48 years old. I was diagnosed last Sept with Stage IIa adenocarcinoma. Surgery, radiation and chemo. I just found out this week it has come back. It is a very small area but enough that my doctor is very concerned. It looks like I might be headed for pelvic exentation(incorrect spelling.) has anyone been through this?? I sure would love words of wisdom--it is a tough time.
My best to all of you.
My email is nornova77@attbi.com

(((Hugs))) Noreen- I haven't had that trmt, but a good source on the web is www.eyesontheprize.org It has a pretty extensive q&a section and an ask the dr area as well as survivor stories, etc. I have found it very helpful with this journey.
    Good luck!

I wish I had words of hope and advice. I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in February at the age of 32, had a radical hysterectomy and removal of 31 lymph nodes. They found cancer in one of the lymph nodes but do not feel it necessary for me to do chemo and radiation. The only advice I have is hang on to your faith and FIGHT as hard as you can. Do you have a support system in place? Family?

I was diagnosed in August, 2003 with the same thing as you, but stage B. I live in constant fear of a recurrence. How was it diagnosed and what are your treatment options, now ?
My oncologist will not talk to me about this when I ask questions.

I was first diagnosed in 1990. In 1993 it was back. Now I battle it again.
1st Make sure you have a doctor that answers your questions or can lead you to information.
2nd Do not miss your paps. They are a tool to watch for any possible cell changes. This can lead to early treatment.
3rd Stay positve and ask questions.

I do sit on the edge of my chair every 3 months not knowing if the pap will show it has gone past dysplasia or Cin 1,2,3. But we have to keep on living. Keep asking questions till you get answers.
