My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 16 years ago.She is 77 and her cancer has spread into her lymphatic system into her spine and now finally into her liver. She has begun chemo treatments which are making her very ill.I just wonder what I can do to help.Because she really dosen't want anyone around. Is there a chance that her cancer could go into remission again?I am open to suggestions. Thanks Ruth

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. My Dad was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer this past February. His had spread to his liver also. The doctor has been giving him weekly treatments of chemo(carboplatin and taxol) which he has tolerated fairly well. He had a CT scan done last week. The chemo has shrunk the tumor in his esophagus a good bit and one spot on the liver has went down 25%, but the other spot is the same. Will try another round of the same chemo and see how he responds. If the liver tumors are no better, the doc is thinking about doing radiofrequency ablation. I've heard good and bad things about it. One man I read about had it done and ended up with more tumors in his liver than he had to begin with. Sounds like its just a risk to do. You just have to keep praying and hope things will work out. Let me know if I can be of further help. Best wishes for your Mom. My email is mebmiller@netzero.com.

    Take care,
