Hi!

I'm happy to say that my bone scan was clear!

I have alot of chronic pains, so I was really concerned.

Here's hoping that you get good results on your next test too...

    Thanx h-byrd!

I requested this bone scan because of all of my pains. I had a bone scan a year ago, but since then, I've added to my 'pain collection'. I woke up one a.m. with left knee pain and hadn't exercised for a couple of days. The only possible cause I could think of is the way I sat the night before. I was at a baby shower and was asked to record all of the gifts the mama-to-be received. I sat on the right armrest of the sofa next to her with my legs twisted to balance myself. I'm wondering if the twist on my left knee damaged a nerve.

I walked on it that way for a week before going to a GP. He said it was sprained, so I stayed off of it as much as possible.

A couple of months later, no better, I went to an Orthopedic Surgeon who said there was nothing wrong with my knee! He said that the GP had misdiagnosed me and that I had muscle atrophy from not using it. Sent me to physical therapy and said it would take apprx. 6 mos. to regain the strength I'd lost above that knee. (The physical therapist said that 'synovitis' was on the ortho's prescription. He had not told me that.) Between PT and at home exercises, I did knee exercises for a couple of months every day. The exercises did help strengthen the muscles above my knee, but the knee is still painful. The things that aggravate it the most are climbing stairs (I live upstairs!) and pushing the clutch in on my car. So I don't do either anymore than I have to. Those two things always aggravate my knee, but sometimes doing nothing at home, it starts hurting. The pain feels like a vice tightening around my knee cap. Sometimes the pain is on the right side, sometimes, the left. Sometimes, there's a pulsating feeling on the left side.

When I first started PT, I couldn't bend that knee very well. A couple of days before my last PT, I was cleaning the bottom of my fridge and forgot that I couldn't bend my left knee. I heard a loud pop when I stooped down and fell backwards! It really hurt, but my knee seemed to bend alot better! Next PT, I asked her to measure my bend. She did, and it had increased significantly! HA!

Two months prior to waking up with left knee pain, I woke up one a.m. with left hip pain so bad that I could hardly walk and considered going to the ER. The next a.m., it was fine! Almost two years ago (coincidentally the month I started Tamoxifen which I only took for 8 mos.), I started having pain in the left groin/pubic bone area. Odd that all of these pains are on the left side which is the same side as my lumpectomy 6/00, but they started at very different times. I'm wondering if all of these could be connected , so I've decided to see a neurologist. Plus, this is one of the few types of doctors I haven't seen and have wanted to see about my breast pain.

I was thinking about you recently wondering how you're feeling. You mentioned awhile back that you were having some breast pain. How is it now? Hopefully, better. If not, ice packs really help me.

    Take care,
    Geral

Aches and pains are a bummer, but at least it's NOT bone mets!
Have the MD's checked a calcium level or done a RA panel? (Rheumatoid arthritis) That pop you heard, that's wild! You obviously had something in a bind, what a way to self-medicate!
Proud of you for requesting bone scan. It's the sad truth we not only have to play the role of the patient, but we also have to take on responsibility of treatment. Thank God for the internet!
I have arthritis in my left knee, and it feels like just what you described. My problem worsens after riding in a car (sit w/ left leg bent under me), stairs also a challenge. Never know when, I go up fine only to find out I have to come down sometimes one at a time. LOL
Breast pain resolved for now, thanks for asking. I guess from now on every cough, ache or pain will cause us to 'run up the red flag'. I have a slight cough w/ sinus headaches this time of year, always have, but this year seems to have caught my attention more, naturally. I find other people complain of same thing and instead of recommending treatment as in past my response is, 'whew, what a relief, glad you have headache too, must be allergies' LOL Not a very nice way to respond, eh? Here's to hoping they understand. Keep me posted, and hey, I'm sure you've got a really nice 'pain collection' so quit collecting, OK! LOL ((((((HUGS)))))) hummb
