i havent seen my grandmother in 2 weeks because she had chemo. when i saw her a few days ago she didn't look like she used to and it was scary. i want to act like nothing had happened but something did and i cant ignore that. i was wondering if anyone else went through this and if so what did you do?

    Hi:

I haven't gone through what you have. I had cancer and I am 37. Just love your grandmother and support her. Just see her for who she is. Hang in there---this isn't going to be easy for you or your family but believe in the higher power and just love your family throught this.

My e-mail is Arogers899@ao.com. if you need to talk. We lost our grandfather to cancer in Feb. while I was going through my treatment so I understand.

Why, exactly, do you want to act like nothing had happened?
What did I do when this happened with my mother? I freaked out. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what to do. I hung around and felt inadequate. She didn't even look like my mother at all. In a way, I couldn't believe she was.
How did I handle it? I don't know that I really did, depending on what one means by "handling it". I tried to do anything that seemed as if it would help her be more comfortable. When she was too weak to talk, I sat with her and held her hand. For a while, she sometimes had the strength to smile at me, but that went away too.
    I cried a lot.
What I wrote this time probably also isn't what you wanted to hear, but sometimes there simply isn't anything to do.
