One Day out of Surgery

Thank all of you for the wellness prayers because they were truly answered. The surgeon was in and out efficient, I didn't require drains, and other then sore ribs from 14 months of expanders I feel great. I am wearing one of those soft sport front closure bras to keep "the Girls" in place and supported. I did the double saline implants and was out-patient. I had a 40 min. ride home from a very small (5 bed) hospital, and then back to her office 9 am today. Everything is looking good and this soft tissue tenderness will go away soon. The pain meds keep causing dry cotton mouth, so maybe I'll just use tylenol or nothing. Again, it was great to have all of your support.
Love,
Iris

Glad you are doing well. Keep "the GIRLS" and yourself on the PAMPER LIST for awhile. Don't rush into doing too much too soon(even if you think you can) as this might cause unnecessary scar tissue(and that is painful) too. As for the cotton mouth, treat yourself to some sugarless candy to roll around in your mouth to help. The pain Meds will help you relax and heal. I recommend them until you feel even "greater". Wish you the BEST. Debbie.

    Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the suggestions. I am not used to taking pain meds so must be very conscious effort on my part. They make me foggy brained and dry. Your sugar free candies are great idea. I got up all thru the nite, can't get propped comfortably, finally at 4:30 am took pain med. It's about to wear off again, so need to eat something and start again. I am so thrilled that Ive made it this far and can think to have a life again. Thanks again for your thoughts.
    Hugs,
    Iris

Im so happy for you. I know everyone has said this but take it from me, Im a week out from the same procedure..take it easy even if you feel great your energy is still not what you think it is. 3 days after surgery I went to Wal mart thinking I was just fine and all of the sudden right in checkout line I thought I would faint. Barley made it home and had to lie down for a while to get my strength back. Its kinda like funning out of gas, thers not really any warning signs, just when you run out you are out. The foggy brain thing my also be caused by anesthesia, mine lasted almost a week, it would get a little better each say but those first few days I felt very ungrounded and very hungoverish. Enjoy your new girls, I got tickled when I saw that because thats exactly what I call mine too...my Girls!!! :)

    Hello Chas,
You are right about the energy there and then poof gone. I let my husband go run and do the errand thing and also give him a break from really babysitting me.
    Ok, here are some questions...
I am slightly bruised but that part is okay, however one side is lower than the other. Is this part of swelling and will equalize?? I can't remember what the doc told me.
Also after 48 hrs, doc said I didn't have to sit up I could actually lie down. Are you comfortable doing this? I feel sloshy inside?? So many new feelings. What are you experiencing??? I relate to ungrounded and hungoverish. I also discovered, when I do not take the pain meds, I am more depressed. I was trying some of my homeopathic trauma remedies and while they take the edge off they do not relax me enough. Whatever pain is still there pulls on me and I feel down. So I am back on the prescribed pain stuff. I also know to take bowel support because the pain meds are extremely constipating. Using stool softeners, Swiss Kress, 1 tblsn equate fiber no sugar brand. Hugs and love,
    Iris

Iris, do you have a recliner in your living room? I slept most comfortably with pillows on each side of me and one under my head for the first two weeks after surgery.also a breast cancer survivor friend of mine sewed a heart shaped pillow , with the bottom tip flattened, to rest my under arms on. This relieved the pressure of my arms against the swollen area under my arms.Maybe you or a friend could sew one? It really helped me. Good luck. You'll be in my prayers for a SPEEDY recovery! You are doing Great! Keep up the fighting spirit! Gentle Hugs Debbie
