My husband, Tom, will begin Iressa next Tues., Oct. 1. He has Stage IV lung cancer and has been through 4 rounds of Taxol and Carboplatin. He had a CAT scan after the 3rd round and his tumors have stabilized. He is getting Iressa through the Veterans Hospital in San Francisco (he was in the service). He has been pain free since the 1st round of chemo but now complains of a new pain in his left shoulder. We are aware that Iressa has only a 20% success rate but we are hoping that he will be in the 20%. Iressa is not approved by the FDA as yet; therefore this is a clinical trial.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband, Tom. What type of lung cancer does he have? My husband has extensive stage small cell cancer. We are also in San Francisco. Regarding Iressa, I heard that it had been pulled, but I could be wrong. I also have heard that it has had some good responses. If you'd like to communicate, my email address is delligatti@jps.net
    With best wishes,

Ny name is Tom and I am Stage 4 Lung Cancer and have had Taxol, Gemzar, Taxotere, and Navelbene forms of chemo. I am a Vietnam Vet, but got Iressa through the "compassionate use" program through a local Oncologist. I "popped" the first pill this morning. I also have pain in the left sholder, something like bercitus. Maybe we should talk.

My direct email in Rhode Island is xxtomo@aol.com. Good Luck.

My name is Tom and I replied to your original message right after it was posted, but didn't hear back from you. I've also started Iressa and am on the 12th day - so far, so good.

I think it would be a good idea for all Iressa users out there to start a little chat to compare notes. What do you think.

My husband is 68 and has been on Iressa for 7 mos. Would like to talk to someone who has been on it as long, or longer, about side effects. Also open for discussion on anything else you would like to talk about relating to Iressa and non-small cell lung cancer.
