Hi all: Well, the Remifemin didn't work for me (after almost 3 weeks), so my onc is putting me on Paxil...Anybody had any experience with this to alleviate hot flashes?

    Hi there,
My onc finally put me on effexor and that has helped alot. I have to take it in the morning because if I take it at night I dont sleep well! I have a friend on paxil and she said it has helped some!

Thanks for the info...my onc wanted to put me on effexor at first, but my insurance won't pay for it, thus the Paxil.

Hi! I tried Paxil but had immediate side effects. I had blurred vision and felt really strange. I stopped immediately. I was told this is not common and that Paxil is usually easy to tolerate. I'm now taking Neurontin which I had a strange reaction to but have cut the dose down from 300mg. to 100mg and I'm slowly increasing it to get back to 300. So far I'm tolerating it well and I hate to jinx myself but I haven't had any hot flashes today. Good luck! HUGS!! Cathy

I have been on paxil for 2 mos. At first it didn't agree with my system so I cut the pill in half and then after about 3 weeks went back to the whole 20mg. I was told it took at least 4-6weeks for your body to get used to it and for it to work. At first I felt strange and not myself, but that has gone. My hot flashes have diminished a lot; I was so surprised and pleased! Good luck to you...Cathy in FL
