Hello Everyone.... just wanted to drop a note saying hello I"m new to the CSN but not new to Cancer. I"m a 4 year survivor. I"m involved with ACS on many different levels so it's natural I find myself here to see who chatting. I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm 37 now I was 32 when the doctors told me the lump I found was cancer. Since then I have been through a mastectomy, Chemo, and then a hysterectomy last year. ohhh and reconstruction (the best part of it all) I'm thankful I did not have a husband or boyfriend at the time but lots of friends and a close family. I have since found a wonderful man to share my life with. We were married in December 2000. We spend much of our free time volunteering with the American Cancer Society. I like working with people and I love the internet. :) I sure would love to see more activity in the Chatroom. Keep smiling Ladies.

Welcome Laura and congrats on your marriage. I hope to someday find a wonderful man to share my life with after this. I finish my radiation tomorrow, which I am so looking forward to, then all I need to do is finish the reconstruction and start living my life again (not that I stopped, it just slowed down). I hope we see you here a lot. Take care

    Welcome Laura Marie,

We have a wonderful group of helpful, caring women here. I hope to volunteer for the ACS when I get through my treatment etc. - diagnosed Dec. 2000.

Hi lauramarie. WELCOME! I saw your name in the chat room last evening but, when I sent you a message, you didn't answer. Hopefully we can connect another time. Where do you live? Are you EST? Keep in touch. Cathy

Hello Laura, I went to chat this morning and your name was there. You were idle, I waited awhile and then left. Thanks for sharing your sucess story with all of us. I am doing the last 2 weeks of radiation therapy now and plan to do some volunteer work for ACS, also. I want to give back to others and that is the best way I know to do that. Again, thanks for the post, it gives everyone hope. Love to you, Nancy

    Hi Laura

I'm having the 'one size fits all' with node positive cancer. Had the sentinel node involved - 10 additional nodes were negative. Had the four AC and one taxol. I think I may not have the other three taxol.

I don't know how doctors can say taxol is easier than AC - the leg and foot pain and possibility of permanent pain is 'heavier stuff' than temporary misery with AC.

I am 63 and really feel differently about this than I would have - for sure- in my 30's or 40's. Had breast lumps over the years and really was petrified each time. This time the lump I almost knew was serious I noticed Nov. 16 and since I was having out of town company etc. I made an appt. for Dec.11.

Two oncologists and my surgeon said that PROBABLY the four AC would be enough - the taxol just an added precaution against recurrence so I am still going back and forth whether to proceed or not. Any thoughts?

Hi Laura - I did talk to you a bit last evening on the chat - but, got involved with another site - and did not have a chance to chat with you anymore. I am a one year Breast Cancer survivor and thank God for my life also. My hair has grown back in - curly and silver - but so thankful to have it back once again. This month is my one year anniversary, and my fear of recurrence is terrible in my head. That is my biggest problem at this time. I also like working with people and love the internet - so I will keep checking for you in the chat room.
    God Bless - Lucy

    Hey Lucy,
I can relate to the fear of recurrence. But I can tell you last year my 4th annviversary passted by a week and I didn't even realize it. So I can tell you the fear does ease up a bit. But not always gone. I've gone through times when I couldn't explain an ache or pain and the thought does creep back in my head. I just try to push the fear aside and take one day at a time. Good luck to you. Hugs Laura
