    Interesting . . .
Well, this is very interesting. When I was first diagnosed I remember having a fleeting thought about mj, but at that point I didn't know I would need to have chemo. Now I know I will be starting chemo mid July. Have any of you who had a conversation with your oncologist about this topic received any encouragement to try it? I am in California - since there are many medical marijuana shops, someone must be giving some patients a thumbs up. (As an aside, I was a child of the '60s, but now I'm in my 60's!).

    Salves & balms

The salves and balms are amazingly effective (and absolutely don't get you high)  Really help for sore joints.

I put it on my knees during chemo (after the nuelasta shots) and took the pain away within 10 seconds.  Relief only lasts about an hour, though, but usually long enough to get to sleep.  Also tried the high CBD chocolates during chemo and never had nausea, never vomited once.  They also will not get you high -- just avoid the high THC types, which is what the recreational users are after.   I wish everybody would lose their biases and try this -- to me it's much better alternative then narcotic pain killers like vicodin, etc.    Just my $.02.

Pot is still against the Federal law, so, you can still be prosecuted for using it, growing it or buying it, even in CA. Also, why would you want to put that smoke in your lungs and chance lung cancer?

You do not smoke medical marijuana.  It comes in pill or oil form.  Smoking or even heating it takes away the medicinal qualities, in fact it is not even the same strain of plant that them hippies and stoners like... it does not have the same effect at all.   Please do some research,  a lot of people have been given a new lease of life by using this amazing healing plant that has been used for hundreds of years.  J xx  ( a NON POT SMOKER)  p.s.  Google 'Run From The Cure'.

    Damn...

Mustangjan:  I wish I would have known about the salves...the Neulasta was awful.  I felt like I had someone stabbing me in my bones constantly.  I took Norco, but could only do so at night.  Not happy taking a narcotic.

They do an rx the doc can

They do an rx the doc can give you its called Marinol (spelling). It is very expensive though and I think its suppose to be similar I think. I know a "friend" gave me some marijuana "candies" when going through chemo and I only ate a tiny bite a night but it did help me sleep and helped the nausea. I live in a state where it  will probably never be legal. So, if anyone is reading this wants to give me crap about using that stuff its ok.. I had cancer and I was to busy kicking cancer a** to worry about (lol, just joking all). Keep smiling all we can get through this.
