    My angel Vicki

Hi everyone.....This is John. Vicki's husband. We have lost an angel. Vicki passed away in my arms on Tuesday 4-15. She had a couple of rad treatments on her leg the last Wed. and Thurs. to alleviate the pain before her passing and that seemed to put her over the top. She became comatose and in a vegatative state (Could have been a combo of rads, brain lesions and pain meds) She was the strongest woman I had ever known. To go through all of this in three years, it was a total nightmare. I wasn't a part of this site but I certainly knew of it and I'm sure she would have wanted me to let everyone know. I knew she respected and, to a point, loved each and every one of you. You helped her through the tough times until she couldn't write anymore. I want to personally thank each of you for helping her. She is incredibly loved and will be incredibly missed. Thank you again.   John

PS...If anyone would like to discuss this more...I find it very cathartic. I am loss and our house is very empty now. How I miss her.....

    Condolences

I am very sad to hear the news of Vicki's passing. She is free of the pain and suffering at last. Hopefully you know she is in a better place now even though the hole is massive and the hurt indescribable. Don

Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts. I went back to work today and everywhere I turned...there were memories. I just have to take this day by day.

A little more info for everyone to digest...After surgery (Feb 24) and ICU, Vicki went to a care center for rehab. 17 days of not much. It was turning into palliative care. The leg mass and back/hip areas were too painful to attempt any PT. Now, bedridden. Still fluid enough to converse. She was finally released on March 21st. Home...finally. But..the morning of March 23...rushed her to the hospital via ambulance. She was in shock. Lost 4 units of blood. Couldn't see it anywhere...She had passed out a couple of times trying to move her to the comode. Low oxygen to brain. We just about lost her then. ER got her blood transfusions. She had a large ucler in her duodenum caused by massive amounts of pain meds. Ulcer cauterized. HMG levels up for a while but declined over a few days. Drs wanted to do colonoscopy. She was impacted. Could only do a partial one. Bleeding stopped on own. Moved to a better care center on April 7th. As I said...tried a couple of rad treatments and in 8 days, she passed. 3 years of absolute hell. Hug your loved ones. Love your pets. Take care of yourselves. You never know. This is and will be the hardest thing I will ever go through.

    Hi John

My prayers and thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow, I know it is hard on our caregiver as the help us through the fight. I just want to thanks you for being a loving caregiver to Vicki, in all my trials my caregiver Wife was right there by my side. I could never have don it without her and my oldest daughter who stuck with me through the many ups and downs in my life.

God Bless and keep you in His tender care.

    So sorry

to hear of your wife's passing, the road ahead will be long and windy , but, she's now walking the streets of gold. Please don't take Kteachers suggestion in the wrong way..we want you to come here as often as you want, I know Kteacher was just trying to be kind and offering more options to express your sorrow, and talk to others that are traveling the same road as you
