    Good news...Buddy.  I will keep praying for the surgery to go as expected.  Hang in there.

    He seems to be very detailed and covers all of the bases...

    He figures the surgery at around 5 hours, hospital stay at 9-12 days, and around a month of recovery at home..., not many restrictions other than common sense.. No lifting, no swimming or submerging the incision area, etc...

    It takes a week or two for the stomach and organs to wake up from the battel scars.

    I'll have multiple tubes during the home stay for drainage, etc...

    Yes, this sucks big time...

    But again, it's much better prognosis than the alternative.

    Again, I think of you all as family, and share this with you..

    Agreed with what you said, yes this procedure may suck, but it sure beats the alternative.

    Good News - Kinda

    That is great news regarding the no cancer cells.. But, major surgery no bueno... I hope and pray you have an easy recovery.

    That is not a word I would want to say 3x as fast as I could.  Anyway, sorry to hear you need the procedure but glad it is for proactive reasons. We have had 3 friends with pancreatic cancer and unfortunately the outcome was not good.  None of them was eligible for the Whipple procedure but I did find out it is very major surgery.  I was glad to read that you found an experienced surgeon because as you know that is critical.  Did you find the cyst as a result of a PET scan?  Best wishes for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.

    Yep, the cyst was found during my CT and PET scans...

    They've been watching it for awhile and decided to check it out closer as it has grown.

    So in that aspect, it is definitely good that it has been monitored and proactive action.

    Many times cycst go un-noticed and by the time they are, it's turned to aggressive cancer.

    OK I take a week or so off to handle my piddly **** problems and then I read you are going back in for some organ rearrangement.  I looked at the date first hoping  it was some type of April Fools joke or I was misunderstanding the entry.  Now I know it's not and all my prayers are headed toward you two floridians.  If you want to curse, blab, or just talk, you have my cell number.  You are a great guy and Shelly  is even better because she puts up with you!!  Sometimes the scans show all clear, but other times they pick up things that you can take care off before it becomes a much bigger deal.  It ain't the C word and for me all else is doable. You can do this big boy.  Keep you eyes on the prize, and keep that positive attitude we all love.  Prayers and positive thoughts for you.

    Hey John,

    I'm very glad to hear that there's no cancer, but also sorry to hear that you are going to be Whippled.  As always, however, the Whipple most assuridly beats the alternative.  Your surgeon sounds like he has the procedure down, so that is reassuring that you will be in great hands.  It won't be a walk in the park, but you're a tough cookie, as they say, and doing the one (fill in the blank) at a time, you'll make it through and be back out on the water hookin flounder in what will seem like no time.  I'm sending you the most positive thoughts, energy, and wishes possible, you can do this.

    John, just stopped in to check on everybody and saw your news. So sorry you are having to go thru such a serious surgery but know you will do great! You were always such an inspiration to me when I was going thru treatment. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and will check in much more often to keep tabs on you!

    Certainly glad it isn't that cancer crap. Still 9 days in the hospital ain't no vacation, but anytime off with a remote in your hand isn't to bad. This is an election year for me and so far we haven't heard of anyone running against us so if that is the case I will be making a trip down your way to see my grandaughter maybe in September or October so by then you and Shelley should be good for a coffee/frozen yogurt buffet.

    I thought for sure you were out there fishing away day and night stocking the freezer so you gots plenty to eat while taking your break! :-)
