You did not mention which drugs

You did not mention which drugs and/or therapy you are following.

I am on Inlyta - previously on Sutent.  My oncologist has advised against getting the Shingles vaccine but did highly encourage me to get the Flu shot.

He also mentioned the Pneumonia vaccine - said it was optional.

    shingles

Do not know, but have had shingles and it is unpleasant but not a big deal.  Not sure you really need an innoculation for it  goes away in 7-10 days

It sounds like yours might have been mild?

It can be quite serious and very painful. I've even heard of it causing permanent damage such as blindness.

I couldn't get it when I was on everolimus, but now that I'm off it, I plan to get it. It's a live vaccine, so if you're on anything that reduces immune response, you probably shouldn't get it.

    since

I've been on the nivolumab and then the Il-2, they haven't wanted me to have any vaccines. OK with me as I have not been sick except this kidney crap.

    Hi Joanne,
    Since you aren't

    Hi Joanne,

Since you aren't on any medications, are you just asking if it is ok for someone with only one kidney to get the vaccine?

    Votrient & vaccines

For those on Votrient, I found this on a UK cancer website:

You should not have immunisations with live vaccines while you are having treatment or for at least 6 months afterwards. In the UK, these include rubella, mumps, measles (usually given together as MMR), BCG, yellow fever and Zostavax (shingles vaccine).
