    Maine

Maine has been very unlucky with the weather this winter, 2 snow storm (24") then a ice storm where people from Canada and out of state came up to help the local electrical company cut trees off power lines and then reconnect them.  Since the area of damage was widespread it took over a week for some people to have power restored.  We had some very cold weather with wind chill factors -33 below zero several times, more snow, heavy and Thursday into Friday, some more snow though light this time of about 12" and it is still cold.  Suppose to rain tomorrow, then freezing rain and then rain until Monday night.  My trees, some of the tops are kissing the ground and one large white pine, kept loosing limbs landing very close to my bedroom.  I keep thinking that in a high wind the top will fall on my place.  Part of my anxiety....  Cutting the tree is not possible at that time because other trees are in the way and the snow is very deep and hard to walk on (without snowshoes).

My mother is ok, still dealing with her diseased and needs people to help her with everything.  Her brother came to have Christmas dinner with her and was in an accident after leaving.   Both were hospitalized for a week and now in Rehab.  It was a long Christmas day for us as some of my relatives live all over the country.  I miss those days when family all lived in the neighborhood.

I've been reading the board but my heart was not into replying.  I also had a treatment last Tuesday and fatigue has hit me again.  Another one on Tuesday too.

Wishing everyone a good, healthier new year....

OMG Doris!  We are cold for

OMG Doris!  We are cold for us (high in the 30's this Monday, lows in the teens), but that is just brutal.  I hope we have a warming trend soon.

Fatigue has hit me too, but I think I am still hyperthyroid because I will have strange bursts, followed by extreme fatigue and I can't sleep (heart pounding).  I just weaned down on my thyroid meds about 2 months ago.  I get my thyroid lab panel on the 22nd and see the endocrinologist the week after.  I guess it is better to have "false" energy rather than none, but I don't like the no sleep.  I am sure I will have to be titrated down again.

After Disney, my sister and nephew from San Diego stayed with me.  I loved seeing them, but, at the tail end of the visit my friend of 40+ years (she was my maid of honor in our wedding) and her husband dropped by and asked to stay for 2 nights.  I need to develop a spine!  I let them stay but they didn't help at all and that was an exhausting and unexpected imposition.  I love them, but my home is now closed to anyone but family.   I really wanted to visit more with sister Wendy and less with them (my nephew left after 2 days because he had tickets to the Rose Bowl).

I did find a lovely mother-of-the-bride dress while Wendy was here.  She said it was her mission to help me find one and I am very relieved that we found a pretty dress that fits my pear shaped figure perfectly.  It is a relief and a joy to have that box checked.

Now I am resting until the food tasting party at the reception place (end of Jan).  We have to decide between mind-boggling food choices.  New Orleans folks are all foodies and the reception places try and outdo each other.  To list the choices would take an entire post...lol.

2014 has got to be our year, right!  I never like anything with #13 anyway.  Thank you for posting.  Your Southern mama worries!

    Wize to Rest

I think you are wize to limit your guests to only family.  Please don't overdo, you have a wonderful event to prepare for this year and you want to reserve your strength for your daughter.

Take care and rest when you can.  No matter how wonderful the friends, they will understand when you say, I am sorry I can't have you stay over, I'm exhausted.

    Hugs to you,

It is good to hear from you!

It is good to hear from you! I understand about reading but not up to replying, but still caring.

I am sorry to hear about your fatigue and family illnesses. I hope things perk up for you and family.

And praying that the tree holds out and not in your bedroom like on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when the Griswold's tree ended up in the neighbor's bedroom. At least I think that is what happened.

Anyone, I think of you often.
