Colonoscopy after having a colonostomy - nervous

husband has less of a colon;entry via stoma is also a shortcut and easier than doing it "normally" via rectum. As for replacing pouch and/ or wafer,that was left for me. Also, askfor a discount in cost as work done by doctor will be completed in less time and energy consumed (tho you won't get one) Hopefully all will go well and be clear (I had asked the surgeon who created my stoma to select the doc to do colonoscopy)).....

actually, this was my first scope(back in Feb 2012)using my stoma and one second I'm talking to the doc and the next i'm asking this nurse why she's disconnecting the IV when nothing's been done yet and she tells me its over. I start arguing until I lift my T-shirt and notice my pouch was gone--it was quick!!!!)

No big deal I had a colonoscopy thru my stoma after 6 months of chemo. The nurses and doctors are trained for this when I woke up everything was in place.

The only thing about mine is they can only do a portion of the colon I had a full colonoscopy after my take down no big deal with that one either.

I would not worry about it.... Keep the faith

My husband has had 2 colonoscopies through his stoma.  No problems, no issues, and the pouch was back in place after the procedure.  The toughest part for him is always the prep.  The last time, he just stood in the shower with running water because it was just a hassle to keep taking the pouch on and off again.

Thanks for the update. 

Its great to hear that not only did the procedure go well, but that he is also NED. 

Time for the happy dance I think .
