Here's the link to the original 1979 Gloria Gaynor "I will survive" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Faf1ch7Q9XE&list=RDFaf1ch7Q9XE

It the perfect pick-me-up song when you're feeling blue. Following it is the mix of other old disco favorites.

Happy Sunday to all us fabulous girls!!!

    We're thinking alike

This is one of the songs on my i-Pod!  I turned 19 in 1979 and I remember Gloria Gaynor singing this song very well, and my hubby and I still hear it occasionally on the car radio.  I also have always like Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman" and Kelly Clarkson's recent hit about "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" - oh yeah!

Happy Sunday to my teal sisters!

My "Chemo song" as we called

My "Chemo song" as we called it is not an oldie but definetly a goodie.  I have it on my ipod and listened to it LOUD on the way to every treatment.  It was playing when we did a champange toast with all my friends and neighbors at my kickin cancers **** party the day I found out my scan was clean...

It is called Dream Big by Ryan Shupe

When you cry, be sure to dry your eyes,
'Cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile, be sure to smile wide,
And don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
And don't show the hurt inside,
Because the pain sill soon be gone.

    (Chorus)
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean, blue.
'Cause when you dream it might come true.
But when you dream, dream big.

And when you laugh, be sure to laugh out loud,
'Cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself,
And it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to help to carry on,
But when the troubles come your way.

    (Chorus)
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean, blue.
'Cause when you dream it might come true.
But when you dream, dream big.

    (Dream big.)
    (Dream big.)

When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide, and
don't let them know that they have one.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
'Cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all
around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to
help to carry on when the troubles come your way.

    I purchased "I Will Survive"

seven years ago when I went through my devastating breakup that hurt me more than cancer.  The word were empowering.

A couple of years ago after seeing "The Help" I bought the CD.  The first cut is "The Living Proof" by Mary J. Blige.  I had heard the song in the film but as I sat in my home really hearing the words,  I sobbed like a baby.  The words fit me (and all of you) like a glove.  I would put the words here but I am on my cell and I don't know how.  I still don't have my PC hooked up.

Please check out these lyrics ladies.

It's gonna be a long long journey
It's gonna be an uphill climb
It's gonna be a tough fight
It's gonna be some lonely nights
But I'm ready to carry on
I'm so glad the worst is over
Cause it almost took me out
I can start living now, ooh
I feel like I can do anythin'
And finally I'm not afraid to breathe
    Anything you say to me
    And everything you do
    You can't deny the truth
    Cause I'm the living proof
    So many don't survive
They just don't make it through
    But look at me ooh
    I'm the living proof
    Oh yes I am

    Thinkin' back life's been painful
    Yes it was
Took a while to learn how to smile
So now I'm gonna talk to my people oh
About the storm oh about the storm
Oh so glad the worst is over
I can start flyin' now oh
My best days are right in front of me
    And I'm almost there
    Cause now I am free

    Anything you say to me
    And everything you do
    You can't deny the truth
    Cause I'm the living proof
    So many don't survive
They just don't make it through
    But look at me
    I'm the living proof

I know where I'm goin' hey
Cause I know where I've been oh
I gotta few stars that showin' hey
I'm gonna stay strong keep goin'
That's the way that I will
    Anything you say to me
    And everything you do
    You can't deny the truth
Cause I'm the living proof oh
    So many don't survive
They just don't make it through
But look at me yeah yeah
    I'm the living proof

Nothing about my life's been easy
But nothings gonna keep me down
Cause I know a lot more today
    Than I knew yesterday
So I am ready to carry on
    Oh Lordy mmmm

    I would have made

a lot of money if I could have bet someone that sweet Alexandra would post the lyrics here.  Isn't it weird that I know you that well?  First I know you are electronically savy but most of all because you are kind.  Thank you.

    Aren't those words great?
