Looking for experience with TACE

Hi all,

My father, stage iv rectal cancer, was recently told TACE would be a good option for him.  We were hopiong for surgery but with the last MRI done it showed 2 new turmors so the door was closed to that.  The liver surgeon said next step is TACE.  He's been on chemo every 2 weeks, had rectal surgery, and has been showing good improvement to the chemo as far as the tumors shinking until this lastest MRI.

To those that have had TACE - what has been your experience and is it possible to have the tumors shrink enough for him to be considered for surgery again?

    Put TACE in the block

    Hi,

Put TACE in the block that says "Search by title". A post by Renw (Ren ) will come up.  He described his experience with it.

    Best wishes,

    Cyn

tace and vaccine and lifestyle worked for me

i have one dear friend, inoperable, offered stage 4 palliative.

he tumours responded so well to tace, her uk surgeons coould not believe it, she was able to be resected and is home and well.

they sold the family home, went to hallwang clinic and got the miracle.

tace with prof vogel was a key part.

google professor thomas vogel, i am seeing him 8am next wednesday for tace 9, one guy has had 35, i wuld like the record one day.

not all tace is the same, the targetted chemo cocktail makes the difference and the skill of the doctor also.

goodluck, i love tace, its saved my life, i hope it continues to do it!

is probably the best source for descriptions of the TACE procedure.  He was a very smart guy and a skilled writer as well.

Just be forewarned, Ckat, that he did pass away recently.  However, I believe that his cancer was very advanced when he began treatment, and I don't think he had much response, if any, from chemo.

Tell your dad we're rooting for him!

thanks - annalexandria for the good wishes!

thanks for the replies all.  there doesn't seem to much info about TACE but from what i do hear it works well for some and b/c he's been responding well to chemo we hope and pray this blasts those ugly tumors.  will check on Ren's blog, i did read a bit briefly but got spooked at his problmes with it.  will read into it more and hope his side effects are minor to none.

thanks again all - this is such a great board for help/advice

prayers and thoughts to all!! xo

    yes

just had tace 10 to liver and lymph nodes, with my stable 7.6mm left lung met.

its available in us, in aussie but its the skill and experience of the doctor, the medical team and of course the patient.

for me tace is the debulking mechanism, to allow, facilate immune response.

less trauma, less infection risk means better immune response, it suits minimal disease, alas compare my tace control versus ren.

same doctor, what i think made all the difference was ren's low grade chronic infection, see my blog today about the marshall protocol.

this may also explain my recurrence 3 could have been iniatated by my inner ear infection, within 3 weeks cea spike.
