Why cetuximab may not work while vectibix will:biomarker S492R mutation in EGFR

Why after tumor testing my onc switched me to Vectibix, now I wonder no more.

ago researchers suggesting switching from one to the other if the first stops working. Also, tho you might be predominantly KRAS wild at start of Tx,KRAS mutatant might become more prominant as therapy continues.As hard as we fight to kill cancer, the cells themselves are fighting to survive...We have to be stronger

 

(also,overexpression of a gene known as MET (there it is,an inch to the left of your screen)can also ultimately stop cetuximab from being effective; i'm sure there are other causes as well-there seems to be so many variables and every other day someone publishes research on another gene,protein,molecule that may or may not inhibit,nourish or do something else in CRC)

I'd been off chemo for 5 months and he had a lot of testing done on this last tumor, the cetuximab was only used for three months and worked very well in conjunction with the Irinotican, when I stopped getting it because of upcoming surgeries, but after looking a tumor test results before starting chemo again after this long lovely break from it, he said he was changing to Vetixmab (or however it's spelled, I forgot again).  I'll have to ask my onc why I guess.
