What’s-UP PEOPLE!

Man I remember when this site was popping with questions and answers from all over and a lot of different perspective. Now the last time someone posted was back in August.

OK let’s see if we can change that.

What do you think about the Ten Commandments? There was a court order a few years ago to have them removed from all Government property, is this right or wrong. I also hear that there are plans to remove In God we Trust from our money, does it make a different if  the words In God we Trust is on our money or not?

Would just like to know your view point!

    Hey there Hondo!!

In response to your post I have to say I'm really a supporter of the Seperation of Church and State. I feel the printing of "in god we trust" on our money and "under god" in the Pledge of Allegiance" is rather discriminatory to those of non-christian faith as well as those of no faith. BTW, the original pledge had no mention of god till 1954. The reason it was added was to let the Russians know that we weren't "godless communists" but was never taken out when the cold war ended.

Great post Hondo, but I'm pretty sure it will be rather provocative.

What are your thoughts on the subject Hondo?

    Hope you're doing well Smile

    Hi Ellamenno

Sometimes when things start to die you need to add a little spice to wake it up. I too am a Christian but I don’t believe posting the Ten Commandments or printing In God we trust on our money makes any different. God does not want a people that go around posting His law on the ground or on a billboard He wants a people who have His law in their hearts & minds. We are a free country as long as we have aSeparation of Church and State; God does not need the State to tell His people what to do. I worry when I see Christians here in the US trying to force their view of religion on everyone. I heard one guy preaching that Freedom of religion did not mean freedom from religion that is what is wrong with this country he said. I prefer to believe in God the way I read and understand in His book then applying that in my life. So to me posting what He said in my yard or on a billboard or in a public place does nothing, living what He said and keeping His law in my heart and mind does everything.

God Bless and thanks for posting

    In God We Trust

In God We Trust matters wherever our Forefathers seen fit to put it. Our country was founded on God. Every monument at Washington DC has something about God engraved on it. We should honor God first and our Forefathers second. We have taken God out of and off of most things, and look where that has got us.

If it hadn't been for God in the last year and a half, I would have died. I had cancer. If it hadn't been for God, I would NOT have made it. Hope this helps to answer your question.

    PS

I forgot to add that my son fought to help keep our rights and I find it an honor to be able to show my witness in my yard on a billboard or however I choose. The sad thing is our troops have fought for the freedom of religion and even though Christianity is being pushed out, I stillhave to stand for my Lord and Savior in any way possible. He expecdts us to be a witness for him Gpd Bless YOu!

    Hi Debby

    Welcome to CSN

True God lead the pilgrim to this wonderful new land because of persecution from the Church of Roman. Back 250 years ago you did as the Church told you and if you disagreed with them you were considered heretic and killed. Look at Foxe’s Book of Martyrs and that book only contains few of what the church did in the name of God..

The First Amendment says that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. True that our nation started as a Lamb like beat with freedom of religion and freedom from religion for everyone. The problem is that you should not force what you believe on another person. There is nothing wrong with posting the Ten Commandments on your property. God said in Hebrews that He will write His laws in our heart and minds, so if God’s law is in my heart and mind. I am going to do His will and go out and make disciples of people who choose to believe what He said. I agree with you I just don’t want our freedom to be taking away and to be force to believe a Government imposed religion. When that happens the US would be no different then the Muslim’s where religion is dictated by men not God.

The Bible tells us that in the last days, Gods people will again be persecuted because they refused to believe in the man made religion and they hold fast to God’s truth. I just wonder how much longer we will have this freedom in our country.

Many of my family members served in the military some died so that I could have freedom; there bravery and the courage will never be forgotten

Thanks for your thread God Bless.

Hi Hondo, I am so glad you

Hi Hondo, I am so glad you posted in hopes of opening this forum up again. I too remember it being a very lively place, and sometimes a very heated one at that!  Unfortunetly this topic will always have controversy. There is such a wide spectrum of different beliefs, opinions, that not everyone will be of the same mindset. Having traveled to foreign countries where "Freedom" doesn't ring, I have only come to appreciate the meaning of freedom all the more. I think if people wish to advertise their beliefs by means of a billboard in their frount lawn, etc. they have the "Freedom" to do that. Isn't that what America is about? Freedom to pursue choices, beliefs, opinions, ideas, speech, and not be executed for them, granted there are consequences when we choose poorly.  When we add religion into the mix, we are free again, to share our faith, to believe or not. Biblicaly speaking the Word does say: "Consider yourself blessed when you are pursected for my namesake."

    Hi Don

Glad to have you posting again, yep I remember the good old days here and getting hookup with someone of a different opinion. That is what made this site so great; we were free to share what we thought with others and to listen to what they had to say as well. I think a lot of the old timers that were here moved on or just got so busy they don’t have time to post anymore. I know I took about a year off from posting anything just to come back and see sites like this one dead. But like anything just give it a little Sun, water, and fertilizer and it will spring back to life again. So very true when we are persecuted for his namesake, thank you for sharing my friend.

    God Bless

    I too prefer seperation of

I too prefer seperation of church and state particularly in the US which is made up of people of all different backgrounds including religions.   I think it is ironic that we do have 'In God we Trust' on our money which is fiat money, actually not backed by anything and can loose its value at any time.  You certainly need to trust in God with something so unstable as the US dollar i.e. nothing to back it.

A question I ask is:  should our currency be backed by gold and silver or is paper enough or does no-one care?

    Hi Mariam

Glad to see that you are still around and still posting. I agree Government has no business in Religion, when it does you could have Religion controlled by a non Christian person. The problem back in the dark ages was when the Church had too much power and used the Governments of the world to enforce its laws on everyone.

    Bible

I read a part in the Bible somewhere in Acts that said believers (disciples) were first called Christians in Antioch. I guess the reason for that was because there Christianly is what was showing on the outside. I also read a part in Matthew where Jesus said Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. To me money belongs to Caesar I would rather show my Christianly by doing the things Jesus told me to. Our forefather believed that all men should be free to believe as they want, that is what makes out County a Great Nation. Back then In God we Trust was not printed on our money, In God we Trust did not get printed until after the Civil War by Salmon Chase sometime in1860. Don’t get me wrong yes it is great to have it printed on our Money but what about all the people who don’t trust or believe in God. Should we force them too, I prefer to do as Jesus said let Caesar have what belongs to him and give God true Christianly that is in the heart.

    God Bless
