    I got it, too.....

the nose is the gateway to deja-vu......I cannot stand the smell of rubbing alcohol....it didn't bother me at all when I started treatment, but now everytime I go get my port flushed, I keep an eye on the bathroom (hoping it isn't occupied).  Laughing

    Port Flush..

    LOL....

Definitely, I'm not sure if they use alcohol in the flush or what...

I'm not even sure if I actually smelt it or tasted it...

But when they flushed my port, I immediately either smelled or tasted alcohol....

Unfortunately it wasn't Corona...., but then again, maybe a good thing it wasn't... I might not like it (Corona) nearly as well as I do now..., LOL.

perfect P ! you definitely 'got it'

P ... your comment "the nose is the gateway to deja-vu" is the perfect way to describe it !  Fortunately, the deja-vu can sometimes be good stuff.  For instance, the smell of chicken-n-dumplings cooking always takes me back to my grandmother's kitchen and happy childhood memories.  That gateway is probably mounted on hinges that last forever.

    Fishin Chix...

How's the fishin..., any Reds or Poms action lately..., flatties?

    fishin

Sorry, John, but I am a failure as a source of vicarious fishing stories while you have to stay out of the sun.  I caught one decent sized whiting yesterday and it cost me hours of sweating in the heat on the beach while swatting dog flies.  Nothing else biting but hardheads and shark.   I am soooooo ready for some cooler autumn weather.  Loved your photodynamic therapy pics ... you are going to be movie-star handsome after you heal. Glad scorchedness is not painful and will soon be replaced by smoothness.  Maybe you will look so good that the fish won't be able to resist your charming countenance as you gaze into the water.  Cool

    Getting There...

Not really painful, just during the first sizteen minutes under the light.

Now it's just a matter of the old skin peeling off. But it's not like a sunburn where your skin feels hot and painful.

    Aloe, LOL...

I'm not sure if I'll ever get the nerve to try that again... When I was in treatment getting daily rads, and the daily amifostine injections. I tried aloe (the plant), to rub the gel on my radiation burnt skin (that looked similar to now).

Anyways the last few days of amifostine I got sick as a dog, temperature would drop to 96, then shoot to 102.7. But it hadn't happened until just after I tried the aloe.

Eventually in a day or so we discovered it was the amifostine building up I guess and I stopped the last few injections.

But now just the thought of aloe, is like when you eat something and it makes you sick..., just the thought makes you qweezy.

    OOPS!!

Didn't mean to make you queasy!  That will now be known as the "a-word"! LOL

I'll retract and say....Ouch!  Makes me want to pour Noxema over your head! haha

I get queasy when I have to go back into the rads office.  It smells very strange in there.  It's like I can SMELL the radiation and it makes me sick.  That and the smell of Ensure.  Gosh...just seeing a bottle of it makes me want to puke.
