    Chemo Cycle #4

    Hi,

I am on Cycle 4 of Taxol and will be doing treatment 2 this Wednesday.  I will see my oncologist on Tuesday and am hoping that the blood values espeically the red blood cells don't go way down.  I want to have a test for my iron included.  She misunderstood and thought I hated the iron infusin which made me sick (fatigue (sleeping 12 hours at a time), nausea, vomiting, headaches and etc.) but I want them before the iron tank gets empty.  My oncologist did lower the dosage again.

My ct scan is schedule for August 14th.  I am hoping for stable, I don't want to start over on another drug.

    Best,

    Doris

    Thank you for the update

    Doris,

Sounds like things are chugging along.  I had low red blood cells when I did 8 rounds of Taxol in 2010.  I got very aniemic so I hope that doesn't happen to you.  Wishing you all the best with your treatments and hope that the ct scan goes well!  Good to catch up with everyone today, hugs and prayers.

    Love, Terry

    For Renee,

    Dear Renee,

I wrote to you under a post title "Miss Renee".  I was so happy to see your photo but sad for the reason that brought you back here.

Glad that you love Paris.  My brother and sister-in-law celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary (a month early) in Paris.  I love the photos they posted on Facebook.  It's a wonderful city.

Thank you for including me in your daily prayers, I need them.  I will especially on the 15th of August when I pick up the result of the scan.  I have had so many in my years fighting breast cancer and don't become nervous until the envelope is in my hand on the way to the car.  This is the first time, I am nervous a month before the fact.

Happy that you are enjoying your little grandson.  Hardly believe it was a year ago.  Take care of yourself and drop by from time to time to tell us how your doing.  You also remain in my thoughts and prayers.

    Best,

    Doris

    To Faith:

    Dear Faith,

I am hoping for the miracle of stable.  My last scan was great, I had regression to all the tumors in my left lung which was the reason for the chemo.  To my surprise, some of the tumors in my right lung also shrank.  I knew it was going to be a good scan as the wheezing had gone away.

The wheezing has returned so I am nervous.  My oncologist lowered the dose again of Taxol, so I don't feel as tired.  However, I will call her nurse and ask that iron levels be added to my blood tests on Tuesday.  If I need iron, then the results will be ready when I have chemo on Wednesday.  I just don't want to go through what I did when the iron tanks on cycle #2 and cycle #3.

    Thanks you for replying.

    Best,

    Doris

    For Terry

    Hi Terry,

I am very anemic and had to have iron infusions on cycle 2 and cycle 3.  I hope it doesn't happen this time on cycle 4.  I am really concern about the low red blood cells.  I want to stay on Taxol for as long as I can.  My oncologist did lower the dose again but this concerns me too.  What if it's to low and the tumors grow again.  I always believe that the devil you know is better than the one you don't.  My wheezing is back which went away on Cycle 2.  I had a ct scan shortly after that cycle.

    Hope you are doing well.

    Hugs to you too,

    Doris

    For Vicki Sam

    Dear Vicki Sam,

Thank you for your kind words.  I don't feel that strong these days, more like a whimp.  I do know that we all have to deal with whatever life hands us.  If my ct scan isn't good in August, I know I will deal with it.  I can't believe after nearly 20 years of scans, I am suddenly being afraid of the August one, a month before it's due.  So unlike me.

Thank you again for reminding me that here, I am surrounded by love, prayers and positive thoughts.

I think on the 14th I will ask for the "Pink Bus" to help me.  I never have.

My old breast cancer group who are now on Facebook, did take out the Pink Bus when I began chemo.  They believed it was parked in some old field, done with duty.  I have a photo of the bus on my expression page along with the history of the pink bus that I posted here several times.  I didn't have the heart to tell them it was being used by another group, still making it rounds.  Only 3 of all the women in that old breast cancer forum have mets.  The forum lost it's funding in 2010 and closed.  They have a Facebook account for old members to keep in touch.  It was one of the first breast cancer discussion boards on the internet opening it's web site in 1997.  A grass root effort by women who lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  However, in all these years, I never asked for the Pink Bus for myself.  I believed you took it out for me once.

    Love,

    Doris
