All shot up

edited June 2013 in Kidney Cancer #1

An indoor shooting range near where I live made an offer to anyone who has or had cancer to bring their diagnosis to their range to shoot it. I went yesterday and brought my pre surgery report for my kidney cancer. My actual diagnosis is on a CD since it was a CT Scan. I used my Glock 23 40 caliber and put holes in it. I got on the range for free and even got a t-shirt. Also had lots of fun.

BTW, as of 8 May 2013, I am 1 year cancer free !!

    Shot up!

Delighted to hear that you're doing so well, matchframe.  However, did we need yet another gimmick for pumping up the insane American gun culture?

    BRAVO

ALL Americans aren't as 'enthusiastic' as others about guns.

    Ditto

    Congradulations on the one year.

Part of the reason there are more and more anniversarys and birthdays is an increase in Cancer research both of which goes against the anti Socialist agenda of the NRA  and TEA party , neither of which care about anybody but themselves.

    Politics

Although I agree with you, we have to remember that kidney cancer really doesn't care if you are a Democrat or a Republican

I am not sure where you guys

I am not sure where you guys are coming from, but since I have always lived in Texas, guns are an everyday thing here.  I proudly carry my Glock since it is a Constitutional right as an American Citizen. I have killed snakes that are a danger to my dogs and family with one of my guns.  I don't know anyone who has been killed or has killed with a gun except for hearing it in the media of some phycopath that has obtained a gun illegally.  I am proudly a Christian Conservative and I have always cared about and donated to Cancer Research and have even benefited from the research so the statement about NRA and TEA party not caring about anyone but themselves it totally untrue.  If you want Socialism, move to a Socilist country.

    Sweet! Great idea!!

Thats awesome! Any reason to go to the range is nice but that is awesome! Mine turned out to not be cancer after all but I just might take that inital report to my range next time!!

(Sometimes I find it best to simply ignore the negative and idiotic remarks of others Innocent cause I do care...)

    I have

    Thanks so much!!

I have several friends here who heard about "shooting the diagnosis" and are planning to go do this as well.  One friend in particular is taking chemo 3 times a week.  He can't wait to blow some holes in his diagnosis.  I think it is great therapy.

    Oh My!

It seems that negative and idiomatic is not exclusive to either side of the issue.

This is about kidney cancer. Polarized commentary can screw up something thats working for lot of people.

    Indeed

I obviously started something divisive here, so let me say that I'm sure it really is great therapy and it was an inspired idea.

It's just that I'm cynical enough to think that a shooting range wasn't acting in some magnanimous gesture of help for cancer sufferers.  It seems to me that it was a way of exploiting cancer patients for its own commercial gain and that I would find nauseating and contemptible.  Perhaps I'm wrong in seeing it that way and it was truly an act of admirable altruism.

See. that where you are once

See. that where you are once again wrong..... this particular range has for many years raised money for Cancer research.  This year they raised over $50,000 that will give to Lukemia research.  They give to different research each year.  Several years ago they gave to Kidney research.

I just don't understand the closed minded liberal.......

Since this is an obviously a very closed minded group, I will bow out.

Thanks for the ones who genuinly congratualted me on my 1 year of being cancer free.   I really appreciated it!

    NED

Believe me, everyone here is genuine in congratulating you on your being cancer free - a victory for any one of us is a real cause for celebration and we all hope you'll always be cancer free now.

Congratulations of your One tear NED!

Leave liberal bashing/conserative bashing outside of this site!  This is not the place for it. Don't turn this into the asinine dialogue going on in the US today that has polarized the country into near warring factions.

This site is about kidney cancer, not penny ante politics.

    PLEASE!

I am sure all wishes were heart felt, even from those who disagree with you.

C'mon matchframe - if we all

C'mon matchframe - if we all thought the same -- this Board would be useless!!!

I personally hate guns. Just one year ago, I had a childhood friend robbed and murdered in the middle of the day at his  place of business, and several years prior to that I watched someone gunned down and killed five doors from my home. And I don't live in the HOOD. But even with my history, I can see the therapeutic effect of shooting holes in your diagnosis, particulularly now that you are NED.

I think differences of opinion are extremely valuable and have a place on this Board, just not when it comes to politics and religion.

Congratulations on your one year anniversary Matchframe.  Don't stay angry- PLEEZ. . .

    Geeeeez...

I go away for a couple days and miss out on all the fun...

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS ON ONE YEAR!!!  I remember what that feels like.

I am not a member of the NRA, TEA, Republican or Democratic parties.  As far as politics goes I think Thomas Jefferson was perhaps the smartest man that ever lived.  I do have a concealed pistol license and I will defend myself or my family to the death if I have to.

    I am rabidly independent in the voting booth searching for candidates that I believe will work to unite us because I strongly believe in "United we stand and divided we fall".  In my opinion the divisiveness running rampant in our country today is at the root of all that ails us.  I sure as hell don't care to see it here so repeat after me in one united voice;

    CANCER SUCKS!!!
