Back from MDA

Well we got home yesterday about 3:30 and at 6:30 the MDA Doctor's PA called and they want me to come back for a Needle Biopsy with an Ultrasound. The two Doctors that I saw on Wed. said that they saw something on the other side of my neck in the CT scan that they did on Tuesday, and they noticed it in an older PET scan also , but they didn't think it was anything to worry about. No one has mentioned this to me before. They also did a scope ( my first one while awake) wasn't bad at all ! So we left the next day (Thur. morn.)thinking i was in the clear. Well the Cancer board meets every Thur. night (about 75 Doctors ) and one or some of them want me to have a needle Biopsy on whatever that is on the other side of my neck to make sure it isn't Cancer and they can't give me a report until that's done ! I am thinking it is ok because no one else has mentioned it to me before , but MDA is so good they want to be sure and so do I ! I will be going back in one or two weeks .!They are going to call me early next week to make an appointment . I really feel like it is Junk, and the PA said it could be or inflamation or an infection. She just said it (the node looked unusual compared to the other nodes in that area ? So it isn't cancer until they say it is , but here I go again!

    Wheels...

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round.....

That song will now keep you busy for awhile, because you are going to start singing it for the next few days..., bawahahaha....

Thoughts and Prayers, nothing but good news...

    Peggy....I'm glad they are

taking such good care of you....I'm sure they are just wanting to make doubly sure it is left over junk from rads....and that is better (in my book) than taking the wait and see attitude that some Dr.'s have.  You have a great attitude....one that I want to learn to have....and that's a FACT.

    Cautious...

Your team just simply sounds cautious and that's the kind of team you want! I've seen so many times where one is worried and the doctor says to wait til next scan and see if it changes....urgh. I wouldn't want to wait any longer than I had too.

Prayers that it is nothing to be concerned about.

    Thank you

SO much Phrannie ! I've always thought that you have a great attitude ! I love reading your post and you are always so helpful to all of the newbies. That's what I am thinking also and that's what I am going to keep repeating to myself every time I start to worry about it. I hope to one day get to do some traveling and come up there and meet you.

    Love Peggy

    Peggy,

I’ve scanned and rescanned and scoped your letter and notice you mention 75 doctors on the Cancer board, with all that brain power you are in good hands.

Now hurry-up and wait (it is a subset of scanxiety).

Good thoughts from the west coast,

    Matt

    Safe than Sorry

Sounds like a case of better safe than sorry.  I think the lets check everything out approach is great.  Too many times some doctors just say "ah nothing to worry about".  They are mostly right its nothing to worry about, but I think the attitude of lets just make sure its nothing to worry about is better.

Best to you and praying for the best results.

You are so right Hobbs ,

but it's still a little un-nerveing ! They ( MDA) called again this morning to tell me they see something else on the old PET and the CT that they did , under my right arm and they will Biopsy it at the same time !! I've never had this type of Biopsy . She said that they don't deaden it because the medicine does something to the tissues ! Ouch ? Thanks for your post and prayers .

    I wish

I wish none of us NEEDED this site, but sure am glad it's here!  When I was first diagnosed a friend who had cancer years ago said "It's like a family.  You'll encounter people who you automatically click with.  It's terrible how many suffer from this disease, but you'll always have a friend to fight with you".  As sad as that is, it's so true.  No one fights alone!
