Hi just diagnosed with nodule melanoma. 1.9mm after a SLND found 2 of the 3 lymph nodes with cancer the doctor is setting up a complete lymph node removal under my arm. I've read this really doesn't help. So has anyone done this or not and what was your results.  I have 3 young children so some of the meds I just can't see doing, don't know how I would help my family if I can't even help myself. Lost but holding onto God and faith for a healing. Still scared of reality of this disease. Thanks

    I had a lymphnode dissection

I had a lymphnode dissection in June 2009 under my right arm. Microscopic trace amounts of cancer were found in the original SNB. Once the dissection was done, they did not find any more cancer. I do not regret it. I do have minimal sensation under that arm,and on the back of the arm. I went in for PET scans after the first year, and you must be vigilant with your after care. I did have a reocurrance this past January, had surgery in February. I am currently doing a study for the Zelboraf, because I chose not to use the standard of care, which is the Interferon. We must each make our choices, and it is always good to rely on your faith in God. Wishing you much luck on your journey.
