Ok ladies, I talked to Norma in person today!  Health wise she is doing ok, ca125 is up a little, but scan showed ok.  Her lung scan was clean also. She will check in soon and explain what is going on.  She has got her hands really full with family and thanks everyone for their concern and ask for lots of prayers.  Thanks to Alexandra for the dective work!  We still have to keep those foreiners in our sight.....they find out all our secrets!  Or maybe she is a plant for CIA?  LOL  Thanks a bunch ladies, Debra

It is nice to know that she is doing ok.  She was  such a regular poster that not posting was concerning.  Thanks to Alexandra for doing such great detective work.  I tried and failed badly.  Wrong person wrong town.  Oh well, at least I got the state right.  Praying everyone remains healthy and active for 2013. trish

At least we have a picture of Norma from her profile here, so I tried when searching FB to find her face, but to no avail.  Like finding a needle in a haystack.  Yes she deserves a whipping with a wet noodle...darn that gal to get us all in a state of worry!

Below is off her profile on this site and do see a doctor name and mentions a hospital.  Any thoughts going that route to the doc?  With privacy issues, not sure how much info we can gain from a call to some of these places.  As well, last time she was on this site was Feb 14, 2013, so not like she's hiding.  All we can do is keep on searching and one day she'll reappear, as I'm very hopeful.

Thought --- try going back thru her postings and see if had a dropping of a family member name?

Even though the information you posted was info provided by Norma herself, she had done so in a restricted area of CSN which is protected from the public and from search engines. CSN discussion boards, on the other hand, are unrestricted (i.e. public) and are therefore "searchable" by search engines.

Most of CSN is "off limits" to non-members. Only registered members in good standing and who are logged on to the site can access all of it. Search engines cannot access the restricted areas of CSN.  It is very important to understand the difference between restricted and unrestricted areas. Discussion boards, Member Resource Library and Announcements are the only areas of CSN that are unrestricted, meaning "open to the public." Search engines constantly comb unrestricted (public) content and "tag" it. As soon as content is "tagged," it becomes permanently available to everyone, everywhere, even if it has been deleted from CSN.

I don't know how long it takes for content to be tagged, but all search engines do it; it's their job. Some search engines are bigger and better at quickly finding and tagging new content than others, but you can bet that multiple search engines will tag it. 

I don't know whether any individuals have successfully persuaded a search engine to delete something, but they would have to contact each search engine separately that has tagged the content.

Those of you who are internet savvy, please feel free to correct me if I have said anything that is inaccurate. I have only the most rudimentary understanding of anything technical.

Greta did have some good points, so may I suggest the following plan for the future:

If someone is concerned about not hearing from someone else (in this case, Norma) - start a public thread on the discussion board. You should also ask that people Private Message (PM) you if they have any contact or private information.

PM's between members are NOT mined by search engines and therefore all private info (last names, email addresses, etc.) really should be sent to other members by PM.

I know that every member wants to give back and be friendly for all the help and encouragement they have received here, but potentially having to deal with tons of spam or even worse, identity theft, is not worth it.

Greta you're absolutely right

It was a dumb move on my part. My sincere apologies and thank you for removing personal info from this page.

As you pointed out the cached version of this thread was tagged by search engines. Once you, web administrator, updated your site (CSN), it gets replaced with the updated version. I checked and it's already gone (or never was tagged) from Ask, AOL, Dogpile, Excite, Lycos, Yahoo, Bing, WebCrawler, AltaVista and a couple of other obscure engines.

I can still see the cached version in search results on Google and on 20Search (that is pulling from Google) but the link leads to the updated version on CSN. Google claims that cached view will be updated with the next crawl. I asked them to remove the cached view asap and I will see to that it gets done.

Well I'm sorry as had no clue about the privacy issues and search engines.  I'm not the sharpest tack in the box in reference to the internet, etc, so will know for the future.
