Some Pics from the Beat the Beast Benefit

Marcia put together this compilation of photos of the performers from the benefit. The music is the title cut from my CD "A Child of Lir"

It's actually a fitting song. I wrote it in 2010. It was about feeling like I was coming out of the Valley I had been walking in for so long.

The title comes from an Irish Myth about the Children of Lir. King Lir had four children. They all had mystical powers. Their mother, the King's wife, passed away. The King didn't want the children to grow up without a mother so he married his wife's sister. The sister became very jealous of the King's love for his children and one day she went down to the lake where they were swimming and cast a spell/curse upon them that turned them into swans. For the next 600 years they were cast to the 4 corners of the earth seperated from each other. Once a year they would be pernitted to be together in the lake of their home. The only way the spell could be broken was to hear the words of the new Lord. After 600 years passed, while they were together at the lake, a man by the name of St. Patrick came upon them. He shared the Good News of the New Lord with them and they believed. The spell was broken and they became human again to live out the rest of their lives together in the castle of Lir by the lake.

'A Child of Lir" came from my faith that God will bring me through the Valley. He's done it before and there's no reason to think He won't do so again...

Sweet "T" at the Beat the Beast Benefit and Silent Auction

Here are links to my set at the benefit. Con and I took the stage for a 5 song set. I can hear I'm a tad off and my S's are a little slurred but overall it's not bad considering I was 6 days out of emergency surgery :) It's a true joy to perform with Con. She's a pro (toured with Bill Emerson and Sweet Dixie for years) and has a gorgeous voice... think Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss rolled into one (in my opinion). My goal is to be singing again in full voice by the end of the Summer. They're not going to touch my laryngnx during treatment so hopefully my voice won't be affected too much.
